Optima batteries, by virtue of their spiral cell design and construction, there is not a wet- or gel-cell lead-acid battery out there that can compare in terms of charging efficiency and durability. However, do not purchase this through Amazon -- it is NOT an authorized Optima dealer. Only an authorized Optima dealer, where you made your purchase, is obligated to replace a defective Optima battery with a new Optima. Check the Optima website for authorized dealers.

The above said, Optima batteries are better purchased at your local auto parts store that is an authorized dealer for the following reasons:

1. In the event of a warranty issue, it will be a simple swap.
2. Eliminate the wait and reduce shipping angst. Although an Optima battery is quite rugged, when shipped in a flimsy cardboard box and then tossed around and dropped by a careless courier, the impact by the battery's heavy bulk can cause its plastic case and the internal connections to weaken, crack, or break.
3. You can visually inspect a unit for physical damage from mishandling. Missing retaining fingers around the vent covers is a subtle but tell-tale sign that the unit has been mishandled.
4. You can check the voltage before walking out of the store with your new battery.

Hint: This is a long-lived product -- purchase through a store chain (franchise) if you anticipate relocating within three years, and do not lose your receipt.

If you insist on purchasing an Optima battery online, your best bet is to order from Optima itself directly. This is the only instance that Optima (the manufacturer) will deal with you directly and give you a replacement battery. Otherwise, all warranty issues are addressed through the authorized dealer where you purchased your Optima battery.

My 2002 vette needed a new battery and instead of buying the OEM Delco I decided on the Optima RedTop for a lot less money and more starting power. The engine never cranked better on start up.

ive been using the dual purpose blue tops in my boat and have been so impressed with them that ive put one of these in my truck.

when you think about how much you depend on the thing its pretty reasonable to spend the extra money IF the product is true to its claims.

in my experience these things are worth paying extra for. i never worry about them.

This product is great, I have several of these batteries for my equipment. This 75/25 fits perfectly in my 87 Jeep Cherokee With the 4.0L.

This will be my second Optima 75/25, The first one is two and a half years old and is going strong. @ $ 111.00 you can't go wrong. a regular battery for my car runs $ 87.00.so for a few bucks more the optima is a better buy in the long run.

Bought this battery to replace the 8-year old identical one in my 1965 Barracuda. Packaging was insufficient, box was intact but only brown paper was used to cushion the battery from shifting and impact. Result: broken battery- exposing interior cell. Contacted Optima, it cannot be used or warrantied. Amazon won't return it, either. $140 for a paperweight? I will try to contact the shipper to see what they can do, if anything. Before, I would've bought anything from Amazon, but now I think I'll pass.

My Optima red top battery finally died for good this week. This is not a bad thing because I purchased it new in 1997! That's right... 14 years and four cars later, time to buy another red top!Optima Batteries 8020-164 35 RedTop Starting Battery

My stock AC Delco battery was dying in my 02 Camaro Z28 so I decided to pick up one of these babies since I've heard good things about them. Amazon had the cheapest price anywhere. I decided on the red top for my main battery because I wanted strong cranking power. I have a Stinger Powercell in the back of my car powering my sound system and it holds up fine. Had it installed for about a month. Cranks up instantly every time, even in colder weather. I'm glad it's a dry cell battery, the terminal on my old battery was so corroded that the outer ring of the terminal on the battery came out with the screw. I had to get a whole new screw. So far no problems, if it continues to perform like it does now I will be buying another one when it dies and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new battery.

I put one in my car over a year ago and it definitely turns over faster, especially on real cold mornings. -20f, no problem

I have used these batteries before and they last really well. Not affected by Arizona heat like standard wet batteries.
