D31T w/Surefire Heater Sentry for Kerosene Heater backup, November 3, 2009
This review is from: Optima Batteries 8050-160 D31T YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery (Misc.)
I have used this battery with an SEC America SF606 Heater Sentry inverter/charger to power a Toyotomi L73 Vented Kerosene Heater when the power goes out. It will operate the heater for over 11 hrs. The L73 is my primary heat so it can not be down during a power failure. The battery just does its job. Doesn't leak or smell. My battery is currently 3 yrs old with a projected life of 6. Expensive battery but worth it.

Longest Lasting RV Battery, February 2, 2012
This review is from: Optima Batteries 8050-160 D31T YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery (Misc.)
This is the second Optima Yellow Top Dual purpose battery that I have purchased and I am very please with it's performance. The Optima yellow top I had before this one lasted 6 years with much use during camping. Six years is a very long time of discharging and recharges, for any RV battery. My other batteries were the typical deep cycle acid batteries which only lasted about a year and a half. This battery holds a charge very well. I can camp for 4 to 5 days without recharging. I highly recommend this battery because you get more for your money.

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking, September 23, 2011
This review is from: Optima Batteries 8050-160 D31T YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery (Misc.)
I first bought Optima batteries in June 2007 for my 2003 Peterbilt 387. At that time we were pulling a 53' enclosed auto transport trailer whose hydraulics were powered by a 12 volt DC pump. To save diesel, we had tried turning off the truck and operating the hydraulics from battery power, but even after only loading a couple cars, we'd have trouble starting the truck with the drained batteries. After replacing the OEM batteries with the Optima Group 31 batteries, we found we could unload and reload the entire trailer using battery power only and still have plenty of power to start the truck afterward.
My original Optima batteries have lasted over four years and 750,000 miles. I regularly drain them to virtually nothing when I park for the night and power everything in my truck (freezer, refrigerator, 1100 watt microwave, notebook computer, fan, radio and lights) without ever starting the truck or my generator to recharge the batteries. When it's time to hit the road again, the truck starts right up every time.
I have saved many thousands of dollars in fuel alone with these batteries over the years, and at the price listed here on Amazon, they are a real bargain.
