I installed this battery in my 2005 Toyota Prius with the help of the adapter kit from E-learnaid after my OEM battery died. Aside from costing $75 less than the dealer battery it has a higher capacity and can handle the occasional deep discharge when I 'forget' to turn off one of the interior lights.

The battery was well packaged in a heavy cardboard box and arrived within a few days of my order. It took about 1 hour to replace as there are several components in the way that had to be removed. I would recommend this battery to anyone who needs to replace their stock Prius battery.

This review isn't so much about the battery but more about the ease of ordering, the price and the quickness in delivery. I found my Honda S2000 with a failing factory battery. I decided to go with the optima if I could find it at a good price. Locally the prices were all higher than ordering from Amazon.com. It also qualified for free shipping and no tax to deal with. The order arrived very quickly and the fit was perfect for my 05 Prius. My original battery was still working, but it was 5 years old and I didn't want it go out on me. I researched the best replacement battery and found this one. These batteries are ideal for cars equipped with the smartkey feature. Replacement was reasonable with a few metric hand tools. I had to order a battery cable kit($15.00) to refit the Optima battery, the post on the factory are much smaller. I was very satisfied with the order and delivery process.

I bought the Optima battery to replace the original 12-volt battery for a 2005 Prius. The order was delivered as promised and at a price substantially less than a Toyota replacement battery. The Optima by design with its deep-cycle characteristics should be well-suited for use in the Prius where the 12-volt battery is used to maintain the on-board computer and accessories and not to start the car. Caution: if you buy this battery for a Prius, you will need to replace the battery post clamps to fit the Optima. A kit can be obtained at [...] for approximately $15.00.

I live in Arizona and have used the Optima 12 volt battery Red Top battery for 9 years now after I bought it for our Honda Accord. We sold the Accord 3 years later but I saved the Optima battery for installation in our brand new Toyota 4 Runner. The 4 Runner now has 150,000 miles on it since purchased in 2005 and there has not been one problem with the battery functioning in both 120 degree hot weather or in 5 degree below freezing weather since it was purchased. I am a strong proponent of this battery brand in any vehicle a person desires to install it in.

I recently purchased a Optimia 12 volt Yellow Top battery for installation in our 2008 Toyota Prius. After some adaption problems caused by Toyota using a small battery top anchor in place of the USA large top anchor, I completed the installation and find the battery purchased at Amazon to be as reliable as the one we have used in our Toyota 4 Runner listed above for over 9 years.

There comes a time when you notice that turning the ignition key no longer launches the starter eagerly into action, but instead it reacts like asking your spouse to take out the garbage; it gets done but not without a flash of pained grimaces and a lethargic shuffle with shoulders stooped and an air of martyrdom. There's still some juice left in there but you know its past it's bloom of youth. If you don't want to find yourself pleading with passers-by with your jumper cables in hand one cold morning or waiting for the triple-A guy to show up hours later to help you get mobile again, you know it's time to replace your battery. Optima batteries have a reputation as the Clidesdales of the battery world, used in applications where reliability and extra power are needed; i.e., a car with lots of amplifiers in the sound system or extra fog lights or a power winch. (as in SUV or Jeep) Something to do with using 100% copper in the plates which are wound concentrically instead of laid out in a sandwich-like grid, which increases the surface area of exposed copper. (Thus the round cylinders visible in their body.) My car has a tight, high compression sports car engine and living in a hot climate means the air conditioner is engaged also all the time putting more strain for the battery to pull at start-up. When I push the start button now, my car literally snaps into action in a millisecond, there's so much extra power reserve. The dimensions are also smaller than the OEM battery so there's extra room in the engine bay for cooling air flow under there. From all I've read and my own experience, I highly recommend this to replace your OEM battery. As for your spouse, you'll just have to work things out or produce less garbage.

This battery was recommended to replace the OEM battery in an '07 Honda S2000. It was a good fit and appears to be the right choice. It will have to last a long time however to justify the higher cost but I will have to say, it does look good. I'm pleased with it from that standpoint.

They're expensive but worth the money for deep cycle needs, the prius is one of those vehicles that needs deep cycle batteries as well as any vehicle with lots of accessories

I bought this little 450cca battery two years ago as a wired in backup, mounted under the seat of my 09 Jeep Wrangler. It actually started the Jeep by itself through an isolator switch and 4' long cables! I only expected it to run accessories while camping, or as a boost when I ran the starter battery down. I hope (and expect) it will last many years, which would confirm my 5 star rating.
