5.0 out of 5 stars Great in so many ways
This is the protein for me, I'm sold. It's better than its own advertisements. Yes it really is absolutely tasteless (it does have a very pleasant but mild aroma - kinda reminds me of strawberries, but I only notice it when I first open up the jar), so you can add it to anything with a stronger taste than water and not know the difference. Yes it really is "instantized" unless you start trying to mix it at a thicker than recomended rate. I've taken it staight with nothin but water or milk, in hot and cold chocolate, in cereal, in oatmeal, in my O.J., I've toyed with putting it into my scrambled egss but what would be the point? Anyways, I've thrown together my own little protein drinks a half a dozen different ways already and I haven't scratched the surface. But wait there's more! Optimum makes no claims about this whey's other fantastic properties and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

I emailed them and they responded the same day to say that the stuff is virtually ("90%-98%") lactose free, which is a big relief since I have allot of lactose intollerance in the family.

The stuff is made in the USA. 17 grams of protein per serving, there's 60 servings in a jar. That's 1020 grams of the absolute best protein on earth. Amazon's price: $21 per jar. That's what? two cents per gram of protein/ 35 cents per serving?!? Somebody check my math, I'm not sure if that could possibly be right. Compare that to other protein blends- I need to do more checking but I'd bet that's a comparable $/gram of protein to even the cheapest of the multitudes of new and improved snake oil enriched super fantabulated suplemental mega bloat mixes. Then compare that to your average starbucks bill. Shoot, compare that to what you have to put into vending machines to get what rolls out.

If you aren't sold/bored yet then consider this: Whey proein as compared to all other protein types (egg, standard milk, soy, etc) is the best across the board and should (and usually does) have a cost to match. It is the easiest on your stomach, fastest into your system, and best for muscle tissue gains/ weight maintenance (it's what doctors have used to get HIV and wasted chemo/radiation patients to hold the line and even re-grow). It has immune system enhanceing properties that make it almost medicinal. It has anti cancer properties beyond its immune enchanceing ones, but especially for those who are about to undergo radiation/chemothereapy (I can't explain the mechanisms but it selectively puts the cancer cells frontmost when the treatments are taking place so that they are the first to die and easiest to kill) Carefully and expensively processed Whey proteins (whey protein isolates) should cost even more than the standard concentrates. But Any whey doesn't cost hardly nothin', what gives?
Now... search for a protein supplement, of any kind, that doesn't come with that wonderful and ever palatable "NEW CHOCOLATE BANANA PEPPER FLAVOR!" Or have any fat. Or any carbohydrates (well actually it does have 1 gram per serving). No sugars, no sugar alcohols, no indigestible sugar substitutes, no taste (no, wait, that's a good thing!), and one that can be measured into any recipe of any kind for an endless variety of ways to be used. 60 servings-17 grams per serving-21 dollars.
The stuff's good enough to inspire me to peck away for an hour now to sing it's unsung praises. Now I think I'll go have a high protein bowl o' whey-augmented dreario's so my poor finger muscles have something to regrow with.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!!, June 8, 2004
By A Customer
I recently had weight loss surgery, and had to take protein shakes for a few weeks. I tried all different types of protein products and they were AWFUL, until I came across ANY WHEY. This product is a wonderful!! I can mix it with any liquid and it is virtually tasteless!! I have also mixed it with foods also to add the extra protein that I need in my diet. I still make shakes for breakfast and one for a snack in the evening using this product. I give it 5 stars!!

I bought this to use in smoothies for a balanced meal. I had tried another brand and didn't like the strong vanilla taste, so I bought this because it was described as being virtually tasteless. However, after using it for a couple of days, it too has a very noticeable vanilla taste, which isn't terrible but not desired. It looks like full-fat powdered milk and produced a thickened creamy consistency to my smoothies. I guess I should have realized that there would be some taste to it, but I am not familiar with protein powders. Maybe this is as "virtually tasteless" as it gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars We LOVE Any Whey, May 7, 2008
This review is from: Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Instantized Whey Protein, 2.7 Pound (Health and Beauty)
From our 8 year old to the adults in the house, we all love this product! Added to our soy milk - plop in a banana and ice - and we have a delicious breakfast replacement drink. It has wonderful benefits without the nasty "flavor" -- and after taste of all the other protein powders.

Our kids like the occassional treat of muffins and pancakes in the morning. By adding a scoop or two of ANY WHEY to those muffin mixes, pancakes, etc. our kids get their "treat" with extra protein to help them make it through the morning.

This 2.7# tub is less expensive than the cost of a 1# tub at the local nutrition store. GREAT DEAL!

3.0 out of 5 stars good for smoothies, not so good for savory dishes, July 21, 2008

This review is from: Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Instantized Whey Protein, 2.7 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I bought this product specifically because it was unflavored and unsweetened. There are many vanilla and chocolate products (my personal favorite is Designer Whey) for smoothies, but I wanted a way to boost the protein content of savory foods such as soups, stews, spaghetti sauce, etc.

Unfortunately the product does have a slightly sweet, milky flavor. The flavor is fine in a smoothie or other sweet application but just tastes all wrong in beef soup or tomato sauce or other savory, non-milk recipes.

On the plus side, the texture is good compared to many powders and as long as you don't mind the subtle sweetness, the flavor is good. My husband has taking to adding this to his morning smoothies and loves it.

I absolutely love this stuff! I mix it in with my coffee and creamer every morning and even add it to sauces and baked goods for extra protein.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best on the planet, April 23, 2006
Need I say more? Ive tried virtually every formula in existence over the past 20 years and have never come across a protein that has virtually no taste and mixes so easily (still best with a blender).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent whey, February 27, 2006

I've used a variety of other protein powders, and Any Whey is the best one I've encountered by far. It has virtually no taste, although mixing with juice certainly alters the character of the juice substantially (it's like a smoothie- very pleasant). Stirring alone, without blending or shaking is even enough to dissolve it adequately in most liquids, which it especially convenient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure and simple, March 24, 2010

This review is from: Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Instantized Whey Protein, 2.7 Pound (Health and Beauty)
I like this product because, unlike many other products, it has a very simple ingredient list: it is simply a blend of whey protein, together with a bit of "natural flavoring" (although the product itself doesn't seem flavored) and lecithin (presumably used as an emulsifier to make it mix better). No artificial flavors or tons of sugar, and nothing significant besides whey itself. Protein content is high, cholesterol content is low, and fat is about what you'd expect--but all are significantly better than many other whey products.

I normally use this to make smoothies, although I've used it before with just fruit juice, which also tasted good. I use a blender; you can do it by hand, but it's a bit more prone to clumping that way. There is very little taste other than what whey probably tastes like naturally (not quite like milk), which is exactly what I want. I've never used it in baking, so I can't comment on how it affects flavor or texture, but I'd recommend starting with small amounts and watching the heat level or cooking time if you do try it, since the food may brown faster.

Again, I like this product because it really is just a whey protein blend, which is exactly what I want--no excessive flavors, sugars, or add-ins that add cholesterol and (more) fat.
