Optimum Nutrition, October 6, 2008
This review is from: Optimum Nutrition for Your Child's Mind: Maximize Your Child's Potential (Paperback)
Child nutrition is a regular discussion topic in great need of sound information. Hearing one of the authors speak on the radio made me so excited I immediately sought the book. Here was a book that would give practial advice on what foods were best for the developing brain. With much anticipation I received the book in New Zealand. Along with recognising behaviour traits it is filled with much thought provoking knowledge that can readily be applied. It is as practial as expected. My disillusionment came with all the instruction on the chemical supplements the authors think essential for brain development. These expensive additives are mainly excreted so can be wasteful. It was a surprise to see these recommended when I have always understood a diet of fresh food, fruit and vegetables were the best source of vitamins and minerals. Maybe it was written for countries where the food is not as natural as it looks.
