Book Description

Nathan McBride, “the most brutally effective thriller hero to appear in years” (Ridley Pearson, author of Killer Weekend), returns in the third installment of one of the best new series in thriller fiction.

When Nathan McBride receives a text message from someone who claims she’s been kidnapped, it triggers a deadly chain of events that has the potential to haunt him for the rest of his life.

Nathan will soon learn that nothing from his past could ever prepare him for the crisis he’ll soon be facing. The girl’s name is Lauren and she’s just twelve years old. With virtually no experience with children, Nathan’s patience and compassion are about to be tested to their limits

In a violent confrontation, Nathan rescues Lauren from her kidnapper, but as he unravels Lauren's story, he realizes his troubles are only beginning. She says she's in the Witness Security Program, and doesn't trust the US Marshals because she thinks they're complicit in her abduction. Not only that, her stepdad was murdered last night.

In a desperate and unlikely alliance, Nathan and Lauren must stay one step ahead of her kidnapper and the brutal mercenaries who will kill anyone who gets in their way. Played out over the course of 36 lightning-fast hours, Nathan and Lauren must learn to trust each other or they won’t survive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Series, Bad Format October 6, 2012
By TB33
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've really enjoyed all the previous books in this series all have been good reads with great main characters. This book has also started out very action packed and easy to follow. The only problem I really have with it, is having to wait on the rest of the book to be delivered. Once you start reading a book and are in the middle of it, it stops and you have to wait for the next installment to be delivered. That would be fine if it was short stories and they came to a conclusion but with this format it just delivers a few chapters at a time it makes it hard to stay interested in the book.

I happened to stumble on this author and the first two books in the Nathan McBride series. So far, I have really enjoyed the series. The writing is fluid, the characters have depth to them, and the author does a good job of building suspense. I also appreciate the fact that the books are well edited, as I sometimes find that when some books are rushed to printing the editing is less than desired. I don't think I'm a fan of Amazon's episodic release of the new book in the series. This first release really grabs your attention, as a good book should do, but leaves you wanting more. If I get into a good book, I don't want to put it down and the way this is released your forced to do that and then wait two weeks for the new episode. By then I've started another book. I may just wait until all of the episodes are released and then just read the book in its entirety.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ughh.. waiting for next episode? September 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved the first two books and flew through them in four days! Was excited to get a tweet from author about OPTION TO KILL... immediately downloaded to my KINDLE. Was perplexed as to how quickly the % read was displayed. WHAT? I read fast, but not that fast... only to find I had to wait for next episode to be delivered in two weeks? I think I will wait in order to read the book in its entirety!

Great author, great book... terrible plan to release by episode!

UPDATE: Well, I just finished OPTION TO KILL!
I truly like Andrew Peterson and his novels!!
But because there was so much time in between episode releases it interrupted the flow of reading this thriller. Now that it is out - it is a must read!

More About the Author

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Andrew Peterson attended La Jolla High School before enrolling at the University of Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture.

At a very young age, Andrew won his first shooting competition at summer camp. His early fascination with rifles became a life-long devotion to excellence in marksmanship. He has won numerous competitions throughout the Southwestern United States, including a gold medal at the 1995 Excellence in Competition match at the Nevada State Championship, and a first place victory at the 1994 Arizona State Championship, 1,000 yard service rifle match. Currently, Andrew holds the classification of Master in the NRA's High Power Rifle ranking system.

Andrew wrote his first Nathan McBride novel in 1997, but didn't pursue a serious career as an author until 2005 when he attended his first writers conference. After receiving some encouragement from Ridley Pearson, Andrew became serious about telling the Nathan McBride stories and sold his debut novel, FIRST TO KILL, three years later.

Andrew is working on the fourth novel in a planned series, featuring the "brutally effective" trained Marine Corps sniper and CIA operations officer, Nathan McBride, who now owns a high-tech private security company with his former spotter, Harvey Fontana.
Currently, there are three Nathan McBride novels available from Thomas & Mercer:

FORCED TO KILL (Nathan McBride #2) eBook, audio, and print
OPTION TO KILL (Nathan McBride #3) eBook & audio (print coming in Early Jan 2013)

Andrew and his wife, Carla, currently live in Monterey County, California

Option To Kill
Hi Kay, I hear you on the format. Amazon is always trying new ideas. OPTION is a true serial, the episodes are being released as I write them. I think it might've been better to market the serial as a pre-order of sorts with the option to read it in episodes or wait until all the episodes have... Read more

Avid: This is not a series. It's a SERIAL, which is a whole different story. You pay one time for the serial, in this case Andrew's (or my serial, Downward-Facing Death). It costs $1.99, and you get the first installment with that. But you also get all additional installments for no extra price.... Read more
