1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with Pay As You Go / GoPhones
This device does not work with AT&T Pay As You Go / GoPhones. It took me a few days and hours with customer service to figure this out.

This device requires a regular att cell phone plan with a Data Connect plan. I've read reviews that it doesn't work with iPhone sim cards either.

This review is from: Option GT Ultra Express Wireless 3G Internet Card (Electronics)
Pros:
+ Works for Windows AND Mac.
+ Does what it's suppose to, has pretty good reception. Slightly better than my cellphone anyways.
+ Most Windows Laptops have an express card slot.
+ Protrudes less than USB models.
+ Cheaper than comparable USB models.
+ Feels pretty solid.

Cons:
- Set up was somewhat of a pain.
- It's an express card meaning it can't plug in to the new 15" Macbook Pro (express slot is only available for older models of Macbook Pro or the new 17" Macbook Pro).
- Express cards are a dying interface. USB is better in so many ways albeit, more expensive.

Other Thoughts:
I did not think a 1 star rating was fair at all seeing as it works as described and it REQUIRES AN AT&T DATA PLAN (as expected). So of course you can't buy a Go-Phone and use the sim. You should not buy this if you don't know what you're doing. Other than that, it's a good product for the money especially if you have an express card slot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Internet Connection, April 22, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Option GT Ultra Express Wireless 3G Internet Card (Electronics)
For two years I have been using this AT&T Connect Card to connect to the Internet on the road through a cell phone connection. AT&T sold this card until recently then stopped because many laptop computers have stopped using the Express Card slot.

My card was lost temporarily and I went to AT&T to purchase a new one. However, they now only provide a USB Card.

The USB Card is rather flimsy compared to the deep seating Express Card. In addition the specifications show that the Express Card was much faster moving data than through an USB2 connection. I was very disappointed and preparing to purchase the USB Card when I checked Amazon and found this item.

The Amazon card is the original AT&T card, since discontinued by AT&T. AT&T had originally charged me over $200 for the card and the cell phone chip. Luckily I found the original card and now am happy to have a spare.

Anyone purchasing this card only needs to go to AT&T and purchase or add another cell phone line. The chip for the new phone line will fit into this card allowing portable Internet use. Using it in this fashion allows use while traveling as a passenger in a car or other mobile transportation

Highly recommended for this unique use.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Better Internet Connection For A MacBook, January 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I had been using a USB connect card for my MacBook Pro,but it has a tendency to damage the USB port after a lot of use. This Express card is much more stable.I just popped the SIM card from my USB card and put it in the Express card and it worked fine.I didn't even have to download a new AT&T client. The card arrived in a timely manner and was exactly what I wanted. At a very reasonable price.I highly recommend this seller.
