5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I hoped for, and a little more than I expected, July 14, 2009
This review is from: (Many Color Options) Mivizu Sleek Amazon Kindle 3 / Wifi Leather case cover for Kindle 3 / Wifi eBook reader
I've had my Mivizu Sleek Kindle Case for a few days now, and I am delighted with it. It is everything I hoped for, and perhaps a little more than I expected, because it is of a higher quality than some reviews suggested.

Those reviewers who thought the Mivizu Sleek Case covering is not leather, probably had in mind the heavy leather of a wallet or brief case, rather than the thin, supple leather of fine driving gloves, which would describe the leather on the Mivizu Sleek.

Mine is a very pretty red that matches the on-line color swath. The leather is smooth and tight with no rumples, defects, or scuff marks, and no gaps at the edges.

When shopping for almost any item at Amazon, I always look at the negative reviews first, and don't waste my time if any seem valid.

Most reviews for any product are from people who simply bought the wrong thing... they buy a bicycle and complain that it doesn't have four wheels, for example.

It was the same with the Sleek. Some actually wanted something different... something larger than the Sleek, or something with more padding, or something with pockets. That's not the Sleek... and it doesn't describe what I wanted.

For one thing, all that extra padding and bulk would eliminate some of the greatest advantages of the Kindle... that I can hold it in one hand, and that it is so unobtrusive that it "disappears" while you are reading. It would also prevent me from putting it in a pocket of my computer case, which is what I'd want to do when traveling.

I didn't buy a case when I ordered my Kindle because all I saw then were too big, and I knew I'd be carrying mine inside my computer case, anyway, so I decided to wait to see if I really needed to buy a special case for the Kindle.

It wasn't long before I realized that I did need a case for every day reading. The Kindle is, as advertised, small and unobtrusive, and it's easy to lose among the papers on my desk on books on a bookshelf. The screen and the keys look very delicate and surely can't stand much in the way of rough handling.

I use the "read to me" feature often, with the Kindle upright on a shelf so I can glance at it once in a while. That was somewhat risky because of the slick surface and light weight of the Kindle. I lost it for a whole day one time when it slipped down between books.

I started looking for a Kindle case, but it was the same problem as before. Most of the cases were simply too big for my purpose, and others required that the Kindle be removed for reading... leaving it with no protection while in use

When I saw the Mivizu Sleek Case in the easel position, it attracted my attention immediately. I looked it up, and to my joy, it was just as lightweight and sleek as the ad had shown... with no heavy padding and no extra pockets to add weight.

I ordered it immediately; it was shipped the next business day; and I received it a few days later.

My biggest concern, about quality, proved groundless, as I was unable to find any manufacturing defect.

The design appears to be sturdy enough to protect the Kindle against such everyday mishaps as a tumble to the carpeted floor of my home or office, and the suede-like interior will protect the face and screen when in a pocket of a bag or computer case.

Because there is no padding, it probably would not protect against a fall to the concrete floor of an airport... but I wouldn't be carrying it in my hand, anyway... it would be in my handbag or computer case.

It's worth noting that some airlines might count a Kindle in a larger case against your "carry-on" luggage allowance, and the extra padding might make it difficult to put inside another bag.

One review complained that the Mivizu Sleek easel feature wouldn't work because there isn't enough separation between the two sides with the snap fastened backwards... but you aren't supposed to fasten the snap backwards... or fasten the snap at all when in the easel position. When set up as shown in the ad, the easel works perfectly.

On the subject of that snap closure... one person mentioned that it was easy to snap without putting too much pressure on the Kindle. I would not have thought to mention that, but agree that it is a good point and a sign of careful design.

It is true that there is no cutout for the USB plug, but it's not necessary to remove the Kindle to charge it. The tip of a finger nail, or the corner of a credit card inserted between the Kindle and the case raises the Kindle enough to allow the USB plug to snap into place.

I like this case a lot. I'm giving it 5 stars because it delivers exactly what it promises.

With improved quality control, this could be a nice case for the money ($35.00). I ordered the case in plum, and am quite satisfied with the color/shade. The case is very sleek and easy to hold. It folds back and stands up quite well. However, the USB cable won't go all the way in the Kindle while in the this case. Also, there are little *things* here and there on the case itself that are not perfect-- leather not uniformly tight across cover front, un-uniform corner stitching. If you don't look really hard you probably wouldn't notice them at first, still, taking care of these little things would put the icing on the cake.

I hope some improvements are made on the finishing end of this cover, because I do like the overall design.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Like It!, July 4, 2009
This review is from: (Many Color Options) Mivizu Sleek Amazon Kindle 3 / Wifi Leather case cover for Kindle 3 / Wifi eBook reader
I received the blue Mivizu Sleek cover a few days ago and so far I have been quite pleased with the product. It fits the K2 like a glove and the K2 is very secure in this cover. When used in its easel form, it stands at a very slight angle. The front folds back completely and is very comfortable to hold while reading like a book. The cutouts for controls are lined up perfectly.

There is no padding in this cover but it is lined with a soft velvety material. The K2 is easily secured into the cover and it is also easy to remove. The blue color seems a bit darker than what my computer displayed but I really like it.

If you are interested in a simple, functional cover that does not add any bulk, this is a product to try. This cover was aptly named---Sleek!

2.0 out of 5 stars Only OK., July 7, 2009
This review is from: (Many Color Options) Mivizu Sleek Amazon Kindle 3 / Wifi Leather case cover for Kindle 3 / Wifi eBook reader
I received my red one last week. The color is lovely and it is a very sleek case. The leather is very thin and some sort of plastic is bonded to it at the edges to hold it together. It isn't the neatest look (not uniform along the edges) and it won't hold up to taking my Kindle in and out. One corner is already coming apart. I don't feel like my K2 is well protected in this case - much better protection in my Oberon where there is some overlap of cover.

All in all, this is a sleek case but, the quality and protectiveness isn't up to par with other cases.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great., July 7, 2009
This review is from: (Many Color Options) Mivizu Sleek Amazon Kindle 3 / Wifi Leather case cover for Kindle 3 / Wifi eBook reader
I purchased the black case.

The case is lacking in the fit and finish department. The outside of case already came with a couple of "dents" and a scuff or two and the edges where the leather is bonded to the plastic shell is a bit uneven.

This case is easily the slimmest cover available for the Kindle 2. This is the best feature of the case and is very easy to hold in one hand when reading. However, give the the hardness of the plastic that the leather is bonded on to, I don't suspect that it'll give much by way of shock protection should you drop it. It should be more than adequate however, to protect against scratches and bumps. Given the hardness of the case, it might actually provide a bit more protection to the glass should something accidentally hit the front of it.

Design wise, the manufacturer goofed by not including a cutout for the USB/power cable socket. You won't be able to plug in the cable all the way unless you take the Kindle out of the case.

My case came with a book light similar to the Might Bright but with one bulb. In all honesty, I would much rather they just didn't bundle the book light and charged less in overall price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique and Sleek Kindle 2 Cover!, July 4, 2009

This review is from: (Many Color Options) Mivizu Sleek Amazon Kindle 3 / Wifi Leather case cover for Kindle 3 / Wifi eBook reader
When you first see and hold this cover out of its packaging, your first thought may be, "Huh? This is never going to work," but within a few minutes you will realize just how great this cover really is!

I ordered this cover in blue and find it to be a nice, slightly darker tone/shade of royal blue. This cover feels very soft and smooth and almost weightless, and not at all "plastic" feeling like one reviewer described. You will see the corners and no metal, velcro, or elastic and may wonder how in the world your Kindle will stay in there securely. I am still wondering at this simple-looking, genius design, because somehow the Kindle does remain in the cover very securely. I put the Kindle in and it did not budge away from the corners or sides at all. I even took it and held it and waved it all different ways over my bed and the Kindle never budged. I should also mention that I have a skin on my Kindle, and this is not an issue for fit/placement.

As previous reviews have stated, when using this cover, it does almost feel like you are reading your Kindle "naked." Another wondrous thing about this case is how protective it seems to be despite how light it is and considering that it does not have added padding. I love that this cover has a snap closure for added security. The easel aspect of this case functions well, although it is probably safer to keep secured with the snap closure. I think this cover is not only great to use for reading on the Kindle and keeping it dust/dirt free and protected when not reading, but can also be used to transport in a pocketbook or backpack as long as one takes into consideration that due to the cover's easel/platform design, the edges/thinnest sides of the kindle are not completely covered. With this cover, you will have easy access to all ports and the power switch, just as advertised. It's also nice that the speakers aren't covered or muffled.

So how does this cover compare to others? I had an M-edge Go cover ($30 and the smallest M-edge Kindle 2 cover to date in terms of weight and dimension) and while it, too, was nicely made, at just under 7.5 oz. (which may not seem like much to some people), it felt like it added too much weight to the Kindle and it didn't have a snap or magnetic closure so if you carried the cover in a pocketbook or something similar, the cover could still open and the Kindle could be scratched by other things. I recently ordered and quickly returned the Protec Dakota case, which was $42.99. The main problem with it was that it had a leather binding over the zipper which made it extremely bulky and uncomfortable to hold when the left side was folded behind the front for one-handed holding. Most other covers I've looked at online seem to weigh 7.5 oz. to 12 oz., have wider dimensions, and can be quite expensive.

It is refreshing to have a reasonably priced, sleek, light-weight, and functional cover like the Mivizu cover. This cover is a keeper and now that I am familiar and happy with a Minisuit/Vizu product, I just may have to order the similar book-style cover they offer - down the road, of course...

2.0 out of 5 stars Plum Mivizu Sleek Kindle 2 Leather Case Cover, September 14, 2009

I loved the color and I liked the weight of the cover.

The whole for the plug in needs to be larger. The only way I could charge my kindle was to take the cover off each time. It bent my plug so now I have to have something holding the cord up each time I want to recharge my kindle.

I just received a pink cover for my Kindle 2. It's so skinny and sleek and smooth! I love the way it fits into my purse and hardly takes up any room. It's just like reading my K2 naked. The edges are about as thin as a toothpick. The lining is a velvet/suede material. Very thin. There is no padding. The outer leather part is very well made and wipes clean. It smells like leather with no odd odor. It's made to protect the K2 from dust and slight bumps and other small debris. I would advise to put it into a sturdier bag for trips. I have a couple Neoprene and/or Belkin cases that it fits into. It snaps into the corners very easily. The 4 corners are made of some slightly hard material that bends a bit to slide the K2 in. To put the K2 in and take it out, just slightly bend the top corners up and out. It folds back for very easy easel reading if you're so inclined. The openings for the slide switch on top, the volume on the the side, and the speakers on the back are the right size and workable. I highly recommend this case if you like to read the K2 naked and don't like bulky covers. It's just enough to protect it from everyday reading and storage. The price is right! Plus it matches my DecalGirl skin of Lilies perfectly!

- The blue is darker, verging on navy, than the pictures show.

- Packaging was more than sufficient. It arrived blemish free via USPS.

- The cover is leather, albeit thin, bonded to a hard substance providing more than sufficient protection.

- K-2 attaches firmly and easily to the cover.

- Nice feel while reading, cover is flipped back (snap does not intrude).

- No problem in standing it up to read i.e. easel style.

- Slim, light weight and sleek.

My search for a Kindle 2 cover has ended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks awesome, but creates damage..., January 10, 2010
By

This review is from: (Many Color Options) Mivizu Sleek Amazon Kindle 3 / Wifi Leather case cover for Kindle 3 / Wifi eBook reader
My first impression of this cover was great--I received the black one for Christmas (I asked for it), and the Kindle snaps neatly into it, looks very chic compared to the covers my friends have. The leather was nicer than I was expecting for the price, and I liked how I could make my kindle "stand up," which is great for reading on a table or airplane etc., or even propped up in bed while laying down. so yes, those are the benefits.

BUT, after a few days I noticed that the dye from the leather was rubbing off onto the face of the Kindle itself, and now after about 2 weeks of use I have purplish smudges all over it, and especially on the higher parts (keypad etc)...the thing looks a complete mess, like it was playing out in the mud all day, and I fear that washing it may somehow get liquid inside, so will be extra careful when I do. Then yesterday I pulled it out of my bag and opened it up--the navigation button (the one that you move up/down left/right with) was split in half--obviously there was too much pressure at some point in my bag, and the cover isn't padded at all, so actually gave more force to the button then probably if I had just let it uncovered (as I used to for 9 months before getting the kindle, with no problems). needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed now with my choice--in two weeks my kindle went from slightly worn to completely banged up.

Though the price is appealing, I would recommend going with a different model, or maybe adjusting it once you buy it--I am considering getting some sort of colored foamy material (like that thin foam they use for bathtub toys etc) and gluing it inside, cut out to leave more room for the pressure points...this will keep the leather from getting it dirty and any more buttons from breaking.

P.s. also i noticed that if you forget to turn kindle off before closing cover, it inevitably starts pressing buttons and you lose your page or highlight random texts etc before auto shutting off!
