5.0 out of 5 stars Bulb lasted 150% advertised life
I know, it's expensive (read the other review). I thought the same thing. But you did check the bulb prices before you bought the projector, right?

Right?

Anyway, because of my previous experience with an Acer projector, I expected this bulb to last in the area of 750 hours (it's advertised at 2000). To my pleasant surprise, my first bulb went to...

We bought this bulb from Mwave. Both bulbs we received did not work. The first one went out in the first 20 mins. It blinked on and off, then went to a blue screen. We disconnected everything, and reinstalled the bulb. It worked for another 20 mins then shut off. The projector read bad bulb. We took it back to Mwave and they replaced it for us. The second bulb would last...

Right?

Anyway, because of my previous experience with an Acer projector, I expected this bulb to last in the area of 750 hours (it's advertised at 2000). To my pleasant surprise, my first bulb went to 2970 before dying.

Just make sure, when you replace the bulb, that you carefully clear out any dust from the inside of the case; if your screen is flashing green, your color wheel is probably gummed up. It took me forever to figure that out.

Anyhow, your choice is between this bulb at about $250 for 2000+ hours, or some other crappy bulb for $180 at < 1000 hours. You do the math.

The second bulb would last no more than an hour at a time. We had to put the projector on "high altitude" mode to get it to work, and have the fan blowing directly on it so it wouldn't over heat. After trying every mode to get it to work we decided it was better to take it back and buy directly from the manufacturer.

Some of the wires are exposed on the item vs. the original Optoma bulb that came with the projector. The cover shield on the bulb is also very poor. It covers less than half of the bulb which I feel contributes to the overheating.

Mwave is in Walnut, CA so don't spend money to ship it if you're local. They have a will-call which was not a shipping option when you check out online. Would've helped to know that ahead of time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked for only 72 hours., October 14, 2009

This review is from: Optoma BL-FP200C Replacement Lamp for HD70 Home Theater Projector (Electronics)
Everything seemed fine and normal. I popped the bulb in and it worked ok for about an hour before it started to overheat. I have a bigass fan sitting around so I opened the window and pointed it at the projector. It lasted another month and finally burned out with the bulb lifespan of only 72 hours.

Amazon has been awesome in assisting me with my return and full refund. I am mailing the bulb back as we speak.

This listing is NOT for an OEM bulb as suggested. The sellers need to be clear about what they are selling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bulb, August 10, 2010

I bought this bulb back in March of 2009 - I now have 3,150 hours on it and finally decided to replace it as it was getting a bit dim during the daytime.

Obviously I watch a lot of TV and movies, but for the price I will be ordering another from Amazon when I need a new bulb!

Great product - great price!

4.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good, June 28, 2009

I have less than 100 hours on this new bulb, so I can't comment on bulb life. My largest quibble is with the bulb's location on the projector in that I had to take it down from the ceiling and remove the mount to replace the bulb. Also, there were no installation instructions included, so I had to find the owners manual. And these bulbs are still too expensive. But the picture from the revitalized HD70 makes it all worth while.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Product, January 8, 2012
This review is from: Optoma BL-FP200C Replacement Lamp for HD70 Home Theater Projector (Electronics)
Do not purchase this product. When I received the item and installed it the lamp lasted 10 minutes and blew out. I contacted customer service for Electrified (where the product comes from) and the rep acted as if this happened all the time and was not surprised. After being rather rude to me, she gave me a return authorization number. I had to pay to shipped the defective product myself. I guess sometimes it is worth paying more for better quality. Lesson learned.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misrepresentations, September 28, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Optoma BL-FP200C Replacement Lamp for HD70 Home Theater Projector (Electronics)
I agree with Mr. Mitchell that these are falsely represented as OEM lamps from Optoma. I am in the process of trying for a refund - the bulb didn't even turn on in the projector. The projector was functioning perfectly when the last bulb finished its predicted life. The seller was extremely anxious that I remove my negative comments and repeatedly requested their removal. If other dissatisfied individuals have removed their negative comments already, a balanced set of reviews may not even be available and people will continue to get burned. However, the seller did post a full refund (incl shipping) back onto my credit card, when I shipped the lamp back.
