After comparing three different brands of projectors, I selected Optoma due to high lumen, contrast and light weight. This projector doesn't have any deficiencies for DLP projectors. 3000 lumens is the minimum required for home theater experience. The color is vivid and vibrant. The fan noise is almost unnoticeable. The projector is small and light. Home theater sound system is a must without using of the 16W projector speaker. The projector has manual screen size and focus adjustments. It also has screen shift in all four directions by remote for screen and projector alignment along with keystone. There is a zoom control by the remote. Using ECO mode can prolong the life of the bulb but sacrificing a bit of intensity. 1080P plays very well. 3D experience with Optoma BG-ZD301 glasses is exceptional. These glasses communicate with the projector via DLP Link Sync. I'm very happy with the purchase. Serial number is on a very small label under the grill on the side. The table of screen size vs distance can be viewed at Optome website.

This projector does a fantastic job. I can now watch movies/tv with the lights on. I have 6 recessed lights which are quite bright and the image is still viewable. The 3D works quite well to. It can show 3d SBS and straight 3D movies and there are couple of other options as well. My only quam is that the projector does have to set a good 20 feet from the image to throw a 16 foot diagonal image. As far as glasses for the projector i recommend SainSonic SSZ-200DLB. They are comfortable and look great. I have tried others and they do a far worst job in creating 3D image.

I have been waiting several years for a 1080p projector to come into my ideal price range. This one is 3D capable as well.
I love the brightness and contrast ratio. This is my fifth projector in 14 years. My last was an Optoma 720p and was a pleasure, so I was happy to choose Optoma again..

Great for business and entertainment! Picture is good at 1080P. Blacks are not very good, but that is expected from DLP at this price.

This is our first projector and home theater. We have it ceiling mounted at about 13' from the screen and 10" above the top of the screen. It is connected to a HK 1700 AV receiver that feeds ATT Uverse TV and a Sony Blu Ray to the projector. Sound is piped to a Polk Audio 5.1 satellite speaker system. This projector is awesome. The picture is full 1080 from both sources and it looks awesome. Shows well in medium ambient light situations and in the dark it is better than a real theater.

At this distance I am projecting about 100" diagonal on a 110" screen. This leaves a nice border around the image. It has been in service about a week at this writing. Setup was easy once I got the mounting position right. Minor up, down, right, left adjustments can be down with image shift and keystone from your chair with the remote. Every possible adjustment can be done with the remote and menu.

If you are considering a full 1080 projector for home theater, this is an awesome buy. Pull the trigger.

I made the mistake of thinking I could cheap out on my projector selection. The Optoma DH1011 was the second projector I ordered in less than a week. I'm very pleased with this unit. I originally had a Sharp that was handed down to me that was product in 1998. This was my first new projector.

The Optoma has a gorgeous picture in HD. There are two HDMI ports on the back which is perfect for me. I was able to hook up my PS4 and my Blue Ray player. I don't care much for the built in speakers, as I prefer surround sound. The unit feels solid, comes with a lense cap, and even a carrying case.

I was hoping to be able to throw a 110 inch picture at 20 feet. Apparently this is not a feature available on projectors that generally cost less than $3000. So at 15 feet I get 110 inches of gorgeous display.

I have not checked out the 3d function yet, I'm hoping to do so later today as my glasses should arrive in a few hours.

Bottom line is that I have my movie nights back, this is worth every penny and more.

I absolutely love this projector. I bought it to replace a 20-year-old 3-lens SD ceiling-mounted unit. Today's projectors take up a fraction of the space of those former behemouths and give you an HD image to boot. Already had a screen mounted so the objective for me was to position the Optoma at the key point where I could fill the screen with the maximum 16X9 aspect ratio... which is about 88 inches diagonal in my case. It's capable of providing a much larger image if your screen or wall space can accommodate. As to picture quality, everyone's jaw drops when I turn it on. It's simply stellar. I've had it over a month and haven't touched any of the settings right out of the box. Brightness, color and picture clarity are superb for a unit in this price range. Can't imagine how much better the image can get with further adjustments beyond the default. And the 3D delivers very impressive results. Much depends on your source material. So far I've viewed Hugo and Avatar and the 3D experience is a 10! I highly recommend this projector. You won't be disappointed.
