Customer Reviews

I was kind of reluctant to buy an under USD 1K projector because of the picture quality I would get.
Marcelo
On the plus the picture quality / clarity noticeably improves in 3D mode , the screen actually looks more like a glass screen.
Elijah Collins
The brightness of the HD25e allows you to leave the theater room with some light in it compared to having it totally dark.

This is my first projector , i had been waiting for a good 1080p 3D projector to fall under 1K.
Was stuck between the Optoma hd25e and the Benq 1070. Both were highly rated and within the price range of what i wanted .I purchased the HD25e with a 135" Elite Screen ,projector mount and 2 pairs of Sainsonic 3d glasses ( SSZ-200DLB ) and a 50" hdmi cord.. Total splurge $1350.. For a great Home Theater..
Had a good sound system already..

Great 2Dpicture quality , Full 1080p sources look amazing..my cable provider only has 1080i...presets look good, display is fast and resposive for gaming.multiple connectivity including 2 hdmi ports.

3D is jaw dropping.. Avatar on blueray looks as good as i rembered in the theater..As i heard with most projectors you loose a little brightness in 3D mode.. On the plus the picture quality / clarity noticeably improves in 3D mode , the screen actually looks more like a glass screen.

Freinds and family were stunned at the quality , thought it cost much more.

Extremely satisfied with this purchase , highly reccomended...

The HD25e provides exceptional value in a projector. Period. Not only due to the great mix of price, performance, reliability and features PLUS great 3D! But especially for me, due to the low cost of replacement lamps. HID lamps used in all good projectors like this are both expensive and limited life, typically losing a noticeable portion of their original brightness within 1000 hours of use.

The HD25e is exceptional both in its 6000 lamp life rating, and the low cost of OEM replacements (less than most generic replacements for other projectors). The HD25e's high initial rated brightness combined with long lamp life means most people can expect to use the original lamp for several years by simply changing brightness settings occasionally as the lamp ages. Those wanting maximum brightness can buy new lamps more frequently and keep the still working lamps as backup, saving a considerable amount over the life of the HD25e compared with other projectors with lower brightness and more expensive lamps. Buyers of new 25e projectors are likely to be simply amazed at what a remarkable value this projector is.

The HD25e is the first affordable projector I've had that didn't need lots of nerdy fine tuning of settings to look good for all my uses, and even using my preference of Eco lamp in Reference mode with Dynamic off it's bright enough to replace most any TV and very quiet. I compared it with a new 32" TV, and even with my unpainted 93" screen it blows the TV away. Other modes are brighter, and for sports in particular they'd work well in brightly lit rooms, especially in "normal" lamp mode. At maximum brightness you could watch it outside in daylight.

I purchased the Optoma HD25e to replace my old HD72. I was debating between the HD25, the HD25e and the HD25LV and chose the 25e since the room it is in has controlled light but wanted something bright enough to make the picture pop when the doors to the room are open which allows a good amount of ambient light in. I can say that the picture on the HD25e projects a very bright and super clear picture watching my Directv HD channels. I popped in a blu ray and the picture was incredible! Very sharp with pretty decent blacks and with no noticable rainbow effects. I played with the picture settings and found that the cinema mode looks best coupled with the lamp setting in eco mode (which is good to extend lamp life). This setting seems just right with doors closed (which is pretty dark) or open with ambient light filling the room. Im not one to post reviews that often but this projector impressed me so much I had to write one.

I have been a projector owner for 10 years, and this just can't be beat for under $1000. I really can't believe I can have the home theater experience that I have now, complete with 3D. I had also considered the BenQ1070 but didn't get it because of some bad reviews and especially the placement issue (it would have had to go in the middle of my room vs. in the back about 12-13 feet from the screen where the Optoma is mounted).

I got the SainSonic SSZ-200DLB 144Hz 3D IR Active Rechargeable Shutter Glasses for Acer ViewSonic BenQ Vivitek Optoma 3D DLP-Link Ready Projector, Black on Amazon for about $30, and at that price I got 6 pair so I could really have a showing with whole family or a group of friends vs. just having 2 pair about $100 each if bought from Optoma. Avatar was something I missed in theaters and I thought I'd never see it in 3D - but with this projector I was blown away.

The fact that the bulb price is much lower for this model is a key selling point also. When the bulbs cost more than $300 like for other projectors (even the Optoma HD25, non "e" version) you try to cut corners and get knock-offs, and I've had bad experiences with them. Now I can get real Optoma replacements for the BL-FU190E bulb for $156 on Amazon. At that price I'm not even going ECO mode on the lamp for longer lamp life - I'm going with the Bright mode and enjoying it to the max.

I have a 100" diagonal screen, and the picture is crystal clear in HD. I have not seen any rainbows, which I see in some comments on DLP projectors. Football and movies will never be the same.

You do need to be careful about mounting if not using an Optoma-specific mount.
