a great projector to have!,

Replaced my Mitsubishi MC900, HD65 plus is truly amazing product. We use it with Blue-Ray player with a 70" projector screen in our covered patio. The package comes with a backpack and we used it to carry the projector to our friends house to watch superbowl. The projector produced jaw dropping image. Needless to say, they plan to buy the Optima too. I don't think we will ever go back to our 42" plasma tv :)!!Cons: The zoom range seems to be low. Overall, it is a great projector.

Does 1080p,

This projector does 1080p (Blu-ray), 1080i (HDTV), 720p, etc. It does not have an audio speaker built-in, so you'll have to use an AV receiver that has its own speaker system. It has only 1 HDMI port, which I put my Playstation 3 Blu-ray player on. It has component, also, so I stick my DirecTV HD receiver on that port (component will do up to 1080i, which is HDTV's highest resolution, but it will not take 1080p on the component port). Also has a VGA port (no DVI), which takes 1080p, but it's analog. Had it for 3 years now, and it's still on the same lamp, even as my primary TV/monitor. Comes with a remote that's backlit. Overall, a good projector, but the newer model, the HD66 is 3D capable and has 900 more ANSI lumens (2500) and currently costs $30 LESS than this model.

Great addition to a home theater set up.,

I bought this projector last November and I absolutely love it. It is only 720p but on a 70 inch screen it kicks a**. I will only play my XBox/Kinect on my 70 inch screen now with this projector !!BTW, what good are the speakers with this product. The projector does not have an audio out!! And if you use an XBox, then it does not have an audio out either.

5/5 stars doesn't do justice to what a great projector this is. It comes ready out of the box, requires pretty much no fiddling/calibrating. It's ready straight out of the box. I've had friends over many times and all have been astounded as to the quality of picture the Optoma HD65 produces. We all have had the same consensus that it is by no means the best projector in the world. However you will not be able to find a 720P projector of the same quality for the same price anywhere else. The closest projector which shares the same specs as the HD65 comes at around $200 dearer and not to mention, the Optoma HD65 replacement lamps aren't that expensive either.Whomever is reading this, if you are considering getting a projector, I would definitely recommend this one as your first. It is the best purchase I made last year hands down.

Excellent Projector!!,

I bought this projector online and saved a ton. I was blown away with the picture quality and brightness, was a breeze to set up. Only downside is the throw distance. I would like the option to set it further away then what it is, but thats ok. The machine is great for Bluray/PS3/Xbox and pc. I have all my systems hooked up via HDMI with converters and WOW!!! Great buy.

I did a ton of research before I decided on this projector. The price was right, so I went ahead and bought it. Installing it in our entertainment room was a breeze. After a few adjustments to get it to fit the screen, I put a blue ray movie on. I was pleasantly surprised at the picture. It was like going to the movies. The picture looked great right out of the box. However, I did a few adjustments to get the pest picture i could get. My only complaint is the focus. I have to adjust it from time to time. Not sure if it is from the vibration of the fan or what but it moves just slightly. No big deal. I have put 100 hours or so on it, and everyone that watches a movie on it are very surprised that a picture with that quality comes out of a box about the size of a piece of paper. Very glad I went with this model. Would recommend this projector as a very high quality, and good price. Good for starting a entertainment room for the family.

Bought this as a gift. Easy to install and the clarity is amazing. Great accessory is a HDMI cable. Works great with video games and dvd's. Real crowd pleaser. Great for sleepovers, movie night and other occasions.

Junk,
This review is from: Optoma HD65 Plus 720P DLP Projector with Backpack and Speakers (Electronics)
Had this projector for like a year. Didnt even get the fool life of the bulb out of it, just dropped the signal one day. The component does not work either just a green picture with static. May get it repaired if its not a arm and a leg. Wouldnt buy a optoma again, drop a little more coin and get a panny or something better.
