1 Time Use Disposable Headlamp,
By Borg "Borgman" (Memphis, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Optronics HL7000 NightBlaster Combination Red/White LED and Krypton Headlamp (Tools & Home Improvement)
Do not buy this product unless you plan on tossing it away after on use. This is one of the most useless headlamps I've ever used. I've gone through 2 of them already and have only used them one time each and now they are not working. Not only it breaks, but the batteries are very difficult to replace. It takes 3 tiny screws on the side that you have to undo before replacing the battery. The battery's life using the Krypton is maybe 1 hour long (if your lucky) before it gets too faint. This product is crap, and I'm sure there other products are crap as well.

PROS:I've tried others and this is the ONLY reasonable product that meets all my needs: - ONE HANDED PUSH BUTTON OPERATION to turn on/off and select choice of light beams (LED-Red, LED-White or KRYPTON-focused white). Others require you to use both hands to make selection... VERY ANNOYING because you are usually holding something with one hand and want to get specific lighting with the other. - ADJUSTABLE TILT of headlamp on headband fits all situations. - 3 AAA batteries last well with reasonable use. Whatever battery issue occurred 3 years ago seems fixed now. - Makes an appreciated gift! CONS: - This is such a desireable tool that I must hide it!!! I've lost two of them so far (contractors "borrow" it and then have memory loss)

Great multi-purpose headlamp,
This review is from: Optronics HL7000 NightBlaster Combination Red/White LED and Krypton Headlamp (Tools & Home Improvement)
In my experience, this has been a very dependable, usefull light. There was 1 review a while back and it was bad, but maybe they've made some changes since then (Or maybe it was a different product) I've used this light extensively for camping and sailing, including a night-time sailing trip where the red LED worked great. The light always lasted a long time, far beyond any trip I've used it on. The batteries are not that hard to replace, (nothing to unscrew) Open the compartment at one end and canister slides out. It can be a little tight because the ligth is made to be water-resistant, so if I were to improve anything, I would make easier to slide the caniseter out. Overall, a very good light, and the only one I've found that has 3 colors that can be switched with one button click. (No changing lenses) I would recommend this light if you're looking for a good combination head-lamp.

Choose the Rayovac instead - cheaper and better,

The product was shipped immediately which was great. However as soon as I unpacked it, I was dissapointed. It is large and cumbersome and felt really cheap. The straps are not big enough for large heads and because of its size, it feels really uncomfortable on your head. There is a lot of weight that sticks out so it feels like a brick on your forehead. The button to turn on and off also didn't work well - you heard it click but no joy. And finally (when the button did work) the light wasn't as strong as my other head-lamps on any setting. I also purchased the Rayovac Sportsman LED Head as I have been very happy with it previously (cheap batteries leaked and destroyed the last one). This model is $19.84 and includes TWO headsets which is great!!! It isn't the best quality but its far better than the Nightblaster. If you are looking for a very good Red/white led and spotlight combo this is it. (By the way, the red light is great for maintaining your nightvision when camping or hiking - I use it 80% of the time.)
