3 Years old and still working as good as new,

Very pleased with this feeder.
Can hang or mount with supplied sectioned pole with base-prong support that goes into the ground. Has 3 tubes to feed different types of seed. Metal surrounding tubes at feeding ports help prevent chewing damage by squirrels if they do get on it. The good size top dome baffle which helps keep the rain off & the squirrels have not jump on it to get to the seed. Pole mounted I have added a tube baffle so squirrels cannot get to the seed tray. So I have not had any rodent damage to it. Pole is in sections. So long (tall) I had to take out one section so I could reach the feeder easily to fill from the top without having to take the poles apart which sometimes were very tight and hard to separate. Feeder comes apart to clean tubes easily...putting back together is not too difficult unless arthritis or manual dexterity is not the greatest. I would buy this feeder again. I have recommended this one to several of my pet sitting clients who love the birds. Recomendation: If mounting on the pole, get a baffle for the pole. The ~15-18 inch or so long tube baffle is not too unattractive and it will prevent the squirrels from climbing up to get to the seed. (Not sure if the short Audubon 6" long tube baffles are sufficient).

Great feeder but prone to squirrel damage,

This is really a great feeder. It holds a lot of seed and the optional perches allow you to customize to your bird preferences. BUT... It's not squirrel-proof. Mine lasted a little over a year before the squirrels chewed through the plastic top enough that one morning the feeder and its hanging aparatus parted ways, the feeder hit the ground and broke. Somehow I hope for more than a year from a substantial feeder such as this one.

Opus Model #5103 Bird Feeder,

We will be replacing an existing 5103 feeder that was damaged from a wind storm. We had occasion to contact Opus for warranty replacement of two parts that were miraculously damaged by a squirrel who tite-rope walked a cable, managed to get past an additional baffle we had put up and some how slide down a thin line holding the feeder. Before sliding off the top of the feeder it chewed part of the top. Opus replaced the parts without question. We enjoy a large variety of birds at this feeder.

I received my 5103 for christmas this past year. I was very excited, because I had picked it out my self. I had forgotten all about it until I unwrapped it. I could not wait to fill it and hang it out side. I was very excited that is was easy to fill! I hung it near my kitchen window so that I could watch the birds, it was a different location than normal and it took the birds almost a week to find it. And when they did they loved it. Every morning they were jockeying for position. The best part was that the squirrels couldn't seem to get to it. And the birds got all of the seed. Every day I watched the squirrels try to get to the feeder they always seemed to miss. One time I heard a hugh crash and a squirrel went running away I think he tried to jump on it and slid right off. A couple of months later I think that he got even, because when I came home from work my new birdfeeder was in about 50 pieces on the ground and the squirrels were have a banquet! I will have to ask Santa for another one for this christmas, because the 5103 is the best birdfeeder around. It was easy to fill, you didn't have to fill it every couple of days and the birds loved it. Thank you.

PERFECT FEEDER ALL YOU NEED,
By
This review is from: Opus 5103 TopFlight Triple-Tube Bird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
I wish there was some way I could send photo's with this review.
When this arrived, free shipping I might add, it was very simple to put together. I had my feeder together within minutes and filled ready to go. The 7' pole included is awesome. Perfect height to re-fill feeder. SUGGESTION..The pole directions say to dig a hole 12". I found using a rubber mallot to bang the pole in was so much easier and gave me a tight, secure fit for the rest of the pole I attached to them for my height. This doesnt ruin your lawn by digging up grass or planted areas. Once the feeder was mounted to the pole, I sat back and watched all my little friends check out the new addition to their yard. I have living in my trees 2 beautiful Cardinals male and female who really took a fast liking to their new feeder. So far so good, and I am keeping my fingers crossed, NO SQUIRRELS YET. So if you are thinking about a feeder that is as simple as boiling water, this is it. Again, I wish I could submit photo's to show the beauty of this feeder in action. Good luck!

i have had this product for several years. It holds a lot but the squirrels love it. They stand on the feed tray to eat or hang down from the shield. Opus is very good in that they will replace any part of the feeder that breaks. Just go to opususa.com and tell them what you need. They charge only a small shipping charge.

Not squirrel proof,

Maybe we have smarter than average squirrels. The problem is that the shiny silver dome is made of plastic (not metal). So our squirrels just chewed right through it in the first week and got to the bird seed from the top.

Flip port feeding stations,

I bought this feeder because it fed numerous birds at one. That was until the lovely squirrels found it. They chewed off the flip port feed stations and now I can't use the feeder at all

I have three topflight feeders they are an older modle then shown above. There are small plastic inserts that goes into the holes to keep the seeds from falling out. I need some of these and can't seem to find any place on the web sight to get them. I love the feeders but they are a real chore to keep clean. since I am disabled it is quite a big job to take them all apart and wash them up and dry and assemble them. Thank You, Jack D. Royer

This is a great birdfeeder. it draws all kinds of birds and holds enough seed that we don't have to fill it too often. The included pole is very nice and offers the option of placing the feeder out in the yard instead of just hanging it. it is sturdy and squirreles have not been able to destroy it. We did add a squirrel guard to the pole.
