5.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of Bl. Josemaria and Opus Dei
The book is a good introduction to the life of Blessed Josemaria and the history of Opus Dei, which are inseparable. It is very readable and brings out his personality through many anecdotes. I enjoyed it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Truth?
This book only shows one side of the coin. It makes "saint" Josemaria de Escriva look like an Idol. They idolatrize him. It never says the bad things this dirty man did. Its a shame how blind people are. There are some other good books about Opus Dei that show the good side and the bad sides of it.

The truth will set you free.

Deep and intelligent. Not only anecdotical. Historical perspective very interesting. results very easy to understand the reason for the popes of the catholic church sponsorizes the personal prelature of opus dei: it serves people to sanctify and makes the christian life at hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars An important short biography, August 17, 2004

This review is from: Opus Dei: Life and Work of Its Founder, Josemaria Escriva (Paperback)
This book is for people who want to know who St. Josemaría Escrivá really was, how he started the Opus Dei, and what he meant for the members of the first generation, all the important things in one handy book.
Of course, some Catholics don't understand this modern saint, but especially those should read what people say who really got to know him.

I lost a friend because of religious differences, he became a fanatic of Opus Dei, he was brainwashed. I keep praying for him.

1.0 out of 5 stars False Aura tells it all, May 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Opus Dei: Life and Work of Its Founder, Josemaria Escriva (Paperback)
If you pick up a book and the cover shows a person surrounded by a tacky aura of light, put it down immediately! False lighting is the same methodology used by supermarkets to sell ageing beef.
