For those who are new to WebDB, this is a very good starting book. While the lack of demo product on the CD might be considered a problem, you can easily download the database and the WebDB (current versions!) from technet.oracle.com; this should present no big problem for anyone.

The book provides a good step-by-step approach and takes newbies through all the steps to create a functional demo system.

The authors should not and can not be held against the wall because Oracle has so quickly released new, improved versions (book talk to 2.0 and 2.2 is the current version). I find the comments from the few negative reviews to be baseless.

This is still the best and only book that provides the needed information that the Oracle documentation does not address.

This book is good information source on the working of WebDB. But, skips couple of basic DB/Tool concepts (viz. sequences, linking forms to another). Once can find some solutions on the WEBDB-BIBLE.COM, but still are not that helpful.

The book is meant for version 2.0.5 and there is lot of changes in 2.1 and 2.2. Version 2.3 is on the way. Beginners, rather wait for 2.3 version book.

I generally purchase manuals from either Oracle Press or ORielly. Unfortunately, neither seems to have much on WebDB, so the Web-Bible it is. While the book tends to gloss over the more technical areas (assuming that you come to the software with sufficient knowledge in HTML and PL/SQL to do what you'll need), it should provide any reader with a basic idea of what the early version of WebDB has to offer.

This book provides an easy way to learn about Oracle WEBDB in a short period of time. The step by step tutorial comes with this book is so easy to follow that within 2 to 3 weeks, you will be able to design a simple WEB site on your own. Two thumbs up....

Having used WebDB from version 2.0 I found this book to be very instructive and quite useful in filling in the gaps in my knowledge of WebDB. I would definitely recommend it to anyone starting to use WebDB. I also found the web site good and found that the author was quite helpful when I had a question. This is a very good effort for the first book on the subject.

I found the book easy to understand and very well written. The examples are exellent and the steps to load the example scripts is very easy. For any questions that aren't answered in the book the auhour was very helpful and very fast on answering my questions. Even for beginners this book is very well suited.

As a sales rep covering large telecom clients that are running lots of Oracle, I've seen tons of interest in WebDB. After working with the Oracle WebDB Bible I plan on recommending it to my clients that are implementing Oracle applications

2)The preface of the book gives some non-working URL's to
download a trial version of the software or updates to the
included CD-ROM.
3)The preface of the book is stating:
"The CD-ROM attached to the back cover of this book provides a
trial copy of WebDB ..." - false
4) I contacted the authors about this, NO answer at all.

This book is a great reference site for using Oracle's WebDB. I am a developer within Oracle and it is great to be able to use this book as a reference guide for supporting my internal customers. It is easy to follow and understand and gives you many great ideas for web database development. I know it has helped me provide a better service to my customers.

I worked with WebDB prior to buying the book and found that it provided me with exactly what I wanted - all that extra info Oracle doesn't provide. I reccomend it to people starting out with WebDB but hope the authors update when version 3 comes out.

Not sure I like all the whining about the software not being on the CD, it's easy to get. Download from technet or pester your local Oracle office for a trial CD. On the WebDB site they say that it wasn't on the CD because lawyers got involved, I can believe this!

Good book, good content, for beginers and non-beginers alike..
