5.0 out of 5 stars A must in every Apps DBA's and beginner's bookshelf
Being an Applications DBA myself, I wondered why there is a lack of book in this field. I was delighted to find Mc-Graw Hill to fill this gap. The author has done a good job of elucidating the Oracle technology documentation into a simple easy to understand flow in this book.

This is a fairly high-level overview of apps dba responsibilities, I think J.B. knows a lot more than he was able to get accross in this book. The book covers 11i and R12, but sometimes did not clearly state which sections applied to which versions. Lots of screen shots, useful if you have not done any reading about Oracle Apps in a while (which includes me). I'm still...

* This is very good for someone who wants to get into Apps DBA field. It will be a good reference book also for people already in Apps DBA field.
* It covers from basics of Oracle ERP field to detail technical knowledge on the standard day to day Apps DBA tasks.
* One of the highlights of the book is the screen-shot installations and upgrade of the Oracle Applications. This is very handy and useful feature for any Apps DBA.
* Another interesting feature is coverage of two diverse versions of Oracle Apps - R11 and R12. This is a first in technology books, with people having to buy a book for every version these days. It really saves some money and some trees.

Kudos to Mr. Joyjeet Banerjee on bringing such a good book in the sparsely populated AppsDBA tech-book arena.

5.0 out of 5 stars Master piece for Apps DBA's, November 18, 2008
This review is from: Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12 (Paperback)
"Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12 by Joyjeet Banerjee:" is a Master piece for Apps DBA's

This book covers two most important EBS versions: 11i, the most widely used Apps version now and R12, the emerging technology which every DBA wants to know about. Both of these are covered in a single book, which adds a ton of value to it.

Its an excellent book for the beginners to start off with Oracle Apps. And the same time it covers advanced topics which will be helpful for the experts.

It talks about Installations, upgrades and all the day to day DBA activities making it a complete reference hand off book.

I am really impressed with the idea of the author to add screenshots for installations and upgrades which turns out to be very very helpful.

It's really worth pouring in a few bucks for such an excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very handy and userfull book, October 30, 2008
This review is from: Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12 (Paperback)
I was completly new to Release 12 .
One of my friend suggested me to get this book and I fould this book extremly useful . The book contains a parallel discussion of 11i and R12 which is not found in any other book . All the file names of 11i have been changed in R12 and this book covers both of them .
The book part about the book is that it contains lot of screen shot and lots of the unix session, which make it like no brainer to understand :) pics always better aide in understanding.
This book is worth buying

This book gave most, if not all of the information contained in Oracle's Apps DBA training course and it costs way less. So far i have used if for references when i am stuck with some weird error. It's great buy and very easy to follow with all the screen shots.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Must, January 26, 2009
This review is from: Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12 (Paperback)
This book is an absolute must have for any DBA - Seasoned or Beginner. Thanks to this young author - This is about the best book I have read on Oracle Applications DBA. I will say thanks again for the moderate price of the book. It is a lot worth more than the cover price.

Anyone out there that is looking for materials on Oracle Applications DBA, I strongly recommend you buy this material and DO NOT waste your money on anything else out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anyone who wants know Oracle Apps in depth.., November 12, 2008
This review is from: Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12 (Paperback)
The best thing I like about this book is that the author has cover both the important releases of E Business Suite in one book and he has done an excellent job in covering the stuffs for both the releases parallely. If I want to know something that's there is in R12 and want to know what's the corresponding thing was there for 11i . I need not go back and check the manuals of 11i this book covers it and this is a remarkable feature which I am sure is going to help all the DBA's. Highly recommend this book to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have handbook for an Oracle Applications DBA, August 18, 2008
This review is from: Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12 (Paperback)
Oracle Applications despite of being a suite of technology stack from different generations is still the least understood technology stack. This book essentially fills the void in this space and propels you in to the world of Oracle applications for both beginners and experts. The books details both day to day procedures of an Oracle Applications DBA and advanced topics. The book is also very much current and covers the latest aspects of Oracle Applications Release 12.

Highly recommended for somebody who wants to understand Oracle applications internals and prefers scientific solutions rather than survive on lame "I am feeling lucky" metalink searches
