5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and very informative, November 10, 2000
This review is from: Oracle Applications Performance Tuning Handbook (Book/CD-ROM package) (Paperback)
Covers almost everything to do with Applications and has been of great use on our other Oracle systems too. Makes you look at your system in a new light and has been a real help with troubleshooting. Some theory but loads of practical advice I have not seen anywhere else. Has helped to get many of those tough issues moving. SQL tuning chapter is brilliant. Something for everyone - not just for Applications or Oracle. Much advice also works with SAP. Only criticism - a huge amount of information to digest but everything is clearly explained.

This review is from: Oracle Applications Performance Tuning Handbook (Book/CD-ROM package) (Paperback)
One of the best books I have seen on this topic. The book takes you from layer to layer within the technology stack and equips you with the necessary tools and understanding with which to be able to look at most Oracle Apps environments and work through them methodically.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book, October 31, 2000
This review is from: Oracle Applications Performance Tuning Handbook (Book/CD-ROM package) (Paperback)
This book is an excellent book for people who have worked on Oracle or have a some knowledge about the oracle architechture. It's one of the few books available in the market which stresses more on the possible practical problems and considerations to be taken into account while tuning your application or the database rather than giving just the theoretical aspects. The only drawback of this book is that it contains very less syntax which can be got from various other books. This book definitely is highly recommended for beginners as well as advanced level DBAs.
