Product Description
Rather than being yet another 600-plus page manual that covers every aspect of Oracle, this book deviates from the model and concisely delivers both common sense theory and practical instructions that will enable you to efficiently perform Oracle Database Administration tasks meeting Enterprise environment requirements.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oracle Expertise with A Common Sense Culture, January 31, 2007
By S. Stapf (Cocoa Beach, FL) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It is reassuring - in a world hypnotized by the dazzle and ultimate demise of over-revved technology - to read a technical manual that returns Oracle expertise to the culture of simplicity and common-sense discipline. Mike Elliott - in a short, conversational format - is able to capture the entire spectrum of Oracle success; from micro-details of problem-solving scripts, to the top-level culture conditions of managers that must be in place for Database Administration to work. The text further provides a bridge between the two; detailing the methods to choose and justify your battles, when 100% uptime is the only trophy - and the first measure of merit.
