Book Description

Quest (iUniverse Paperback) July 20, 2006
How do you loose the magic of your childhood? By growing up and discovering that rent, food, and health insurance take the place of pixie dust, fairytales and imagination. Just when she’s resigned herself to the boring fate of being an adult, imagine Katie Gaber’s surprise when she finds herself thrust into a parallel dimension to our own, a Land where she is an all powerful Oracle.

In the Land, Katie embarks on an historic quest to save the Prince of the Land and restore him to the throne before Evil manages to upset the delicate balance between good and evil in an effort to overtake the dimension. Along the way she rediscovers magic and herself, and comes to rely on both to reach the fulfillment of her journey.

The first in a series, Oracle Quest introduces you to a world where the ordinary become extraordinary, and where one person can, indeed, make a difference.

3.0 out of 5 stars light entertainment, November 7, 2006
This review is from: Oracle Quest: Book 1 in the Quest Series (Quest (iUniverse Paperback)) (Paperback)
"Oracle Quest" starts in the real world, where a young lady, K, is unsatisfied with her life -- single, career going nowhere. Feeling dizzy one evening, K falls asleep on the couch and dreams she is in another dimension, a magical land very different from our own. The denizens there seek her help to overthrow a tyrant and restore peace. Eventually, K discovers that this isn't a dream, and decides to help.

This novel is nicely written, light hearted and entertaining. The other realm is unique in ways that are a fun surprise. There isn't much character development or depth, but neither are there depressing events or a dour mood. Overall, this is simply an upbeat book, worth reading, suitable for a lazy afternoon. It will probably appeal to teens as well as adults.

The first few chapters can be read on the publisher's web site (iUniverse).

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!, August 7, 2006

This review is from: Oracle Quest: Book 1 in the Quest Series (Quest (iUniverse Paperback)) (Paperback)
While this book is aimed at fantasy fans, anyone who enjoys a great storyline with well-drawn, engaging characters and humor to boot will LOVE Oracle Quest. Ms. DeGroodt has a real talent for drawing the reader into her story. With no effort at all, the reader is transported to the mystical Land where magic AND mayhem abound. Like the title character, we experience all of the sights, sounds and discoveries of this new place, falling in love with its innocence as well as its mystery. The fight against Evil has never been so tantalizing and so urgent, as the stage is set for what promises to be a long line of great stories to come. Alive with emotion, action, laughter and an unerring sense of hope, Oracle Quest begs you to continue the journey, to follow along on the adventure and to become a part of the Quest. BRAVO!
