About the Author

Peter Sharman (San Mateo, CA), Oracle 7.3, 8, and 8i Certified Professional DBA. Peter has been working with Oracle technology for over 13 years. He was an Oracle DBA for four years with Oracle5, 6 and 7, before joining Oracle as a DBA instructor with Oracle Education. He then worked as an Oracle instructor for two years before moving to Oracle Consulting, specializing in high availability architectures. As with any exam cram book you should complement your preparation with the hands on usage of a real dababase even if its a personal edition. If you practice all terms described in the book you should have no trouble passing the Oracle8i exam.

Even today i refer this book, it serves both as a reference book and exam guide. I just cleared my Oracle exam, and tell you what this has been on my table for those long nights.

I used this book in combination with Self Test Software's 1Z0-023 Study Exams, and passed with over 85% on the first try. This book is very well written and easy to follow. The example questions at the end of the chapter touch on the main topics that appeared on my exam. The included study cram card at the front of the book also brushed upon many of the topics that are a must to know. The study card was a wonderful way to jog my memory just before taking the test. A must read!
