Let me say that we had an old Oral-B battery operated toothbrush for kids that looked almost identical to this and it worked great too but ate batteries and was nearing the end of its life after 3 years (the battery cover was breaking), so I thought I would would replace it with this. I am so happy that I did. This one is better than the old one in that it seems to be smoother and quieter. We use the adult super soft heads because Oral-B heads are small to begin with. Plus I noticed the colorful kids heads, if they can be found, are considerably more expensive, and are exactly the same size as the adult heads. Both our sons ages 4 & 7 use this and are finally brushing the right amount of time. It pulses at one minute intervals (but does not turn itself off), so that both boys know they can stop brushing and turn it off when it pulses the second time. This toothbrsuh is also considerably more affordable than the Sonicare for kids, and the Sonicare heads for kids. I am not knocking Sonicare because I have one and LOVE it, but for little mouths, the brush heads are better sized on the Oral-B.
