Excellent Toothbrush,

This review is from: Oral-B Professional Care 3250 - 2 Handles & 4 Brush Heads (Health and Beauty)
We purchased the Oral B Professional Care 8950 a few months ago. We researched several different products. The research suggested that Oral B brushes with pulsation and oscillation did a slightly better job than comparable Sonicare models. Choosing which model to purchase was difficult because the product descriptions did not tells us what the differences were. The 7000,8000 and 9000 series all offered the pulsation and oscilation features. We read a lot of reviews (especially the negative ones) at Amazon and other places. Good reviews outweighed bad for all 3 series. The 9000 Triumph Series was the most expensive and had a lot of extra high tech bells and whistles. Bottom line is the 9000 with all it's high tech gadgets had a lot more things that could go wrong and the negative reviews suggest that when they did, they weren't easy to fix. The 8950 offered everything we wanted without the high tech extras that didn't seem to add much value but increased the possibility that something could go wrong. There weren't a lot of reviews of the 8950 but they were all positive. The 8950 is a great product. It comes with a small charging base (great for a small bathroom), it cleans easily with hot water (no complicated cleaning systems - just rinse thoroughly with hot water and put it back on the stand),it can't be overcharged (just put it on the stand and it continually charges), and it was considerably less expensive (approximately $100) than the 9000. Best of all, it does a great cleaning job as advertised. For many year my wife had sore gums in spite of brushing and flossing 3 times a day. within a month of using the 8950 her gums improved markedly and are now perfectly healthy. We are very pleased with our purchase and would strongly recommend the 8950.

I'm a Believer,

I was always skeptical of Electric Toothbrushes. I never believed that they did anything different than what a Manual toothbrush could do and I never could justify the price. However after a trip to the dentist, getting my teeth cleaned and getting my first fillings at 26, I knew I had to change it up.I was planning on getting the Oral B 9950 from Amazon but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much money, even if it was a great deal. I happened to be in Costco one day and saw the Oral B 8850 two-pack. I ended up getting it for $74.99 and I am glad I did. I noticed the difference immediately after my first brushing. My teeth felt polished and deep-cleaned. I had to switch to "Sensitive Mode" because the regular Cleaning Mode was a little too rough for the first time. Now after 2 weeks of brushing with my 8850 I will never go back to a Manual toothbrush again. One of my biggest concerns was the back of my teeth. Waaaaay in the back. They always seemed to accumulate tartar throughout the day no matter how hard I brushed back there with my manual, I even started to take a brush and toothpaste to work with me but since I started with the 8850 I no longer have tartar back there at all. Instead it's a smooth, polished surface that stays clean all day and all night. The 8850 has 3 modes. Clean, Sensitive & Polish. The "Clean Mode" is regular strength brushing. You push the button the handle once to start. The "Sensitive Mode" is a little softer cleaning. To get to that mode you push the button twice. And "Polish" is for polishing. You push the button a third time to get to that mode. The handle also has it's own timer built in. After every 30 seconds it pulses and after a full 2 minutes it pulses 4 times to let you know you're done. However, when it pulses it does slow down/interrupt the brushing for 1 or 2 beats. It's something I got used to but my boyfriend absolutely hates it. To some this could be a draw back but for myself, it's not a deal breaker, just a small annoyance. One great thing about these brushes is that they hold a charge. According to the directions they hold their charges for up to 2 weeks after you charge it for 16 hours. The handles also have indicator lights when the handle is charged and when it needs re-charged. I have only charged my brushes once since I've purchased them and there has been no difference in power since my first charging. As for the natural whitening, I do see a difference in the shade of my teeth. I am a non-smoker, non-drinker but I drink coffee, tea and soda. I haven't changed my toothpaste - I use Colgate Total + Whitening - and I credit the whiter shades to the toothbrush. I highly recommend this set to anyone who wants to switch from a Hardcore Manual Toothbrush User to an Electric Tooth Brush believer. These toothbrushes are inexpensive compared to other brands and they do everything advertised. It's a great investment. *Product Update* December 3, 2009 I still love my toothbrush and am still very please with the lighter shades my teeth have become. I recently went to the dentist and the hygienist spent significantly less time scraping and cleaning my teeth than what I'm used to. So I stand by my review and my recommendation to pick one up. BUT - I don't know if others have experienced this, my handle is no longer staying charged for the full two weeks. It seemed that I was charging it more and more and one day I decided to write down when it was charged last and what do you know, the charge is only lasting 6 days now. I'm pretty disappointed considering I haven't even had it a full year yet. But it still works exactly the same as it did when I bought it, minus the charging issue, and it still is cleaning my teeth how I expect.

This is the first electric toothbrush my husband and I have used. We both love it. Your teeth feel extra clean right away. The small head lets you reach your back teeth easily. I'm happy there isn't an actual "beep" after each quadrant, just a pause. The fact that the toothbrush stays on after 2 minutes is very nice! My lower gums are more sensitive than my upper gums, and I can change the setting to sensitive to brush my lower teeth after I used the regular setting on my top teeth. After I charge our handles, I don't charge them again for a week and a half (I haven't pushed my battery to it's limit yet). I hide the small base under the sink. I don't have any complaints about the toothbrush and would recommend using it to anyone.
