Best Electric Toothbrush So Far,
By
This review is from: Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart Guide (Health and Beauty)
I used an electric toothbrush before this, and so I assumed that the transition would be easy. Surprise! I at first found that the Triumph was shockingly rough! For the first week I had to use it on the gentle setting, but after a week I got used to it and switched to the normal setting. I found that that the monitor is useful to time the session and I think that it is worth the extra money. For what it is worth: Normally when I visit the dentists office, the technician spends considerable time scraping off the plaque from my teeth. I went 2 weeks ago, and there wasn't any plaque for her to remove. None. Additionally, I have rather poor flossing habits, and the technician usually causes my gums to bleed. This time she commented on how healthy my gums were - even between my teeth (I did not admit that I had not flossed in a month). Note: I am not advocating that you don't floss, just admitting that I don't.

Awesome!,

What an awesome toothbrush! Not only do my teeth feel so much cleaner, my gums are looking much healthier and my teeth have brightened a bit -- all in a month's time!!My dentist suggested I purchase an Oral B toothbrush (he suggested a specific model, which was cheaper) because I have a bad tendency to overbrush and brush too hard causing my gums to be brushed away. This toothbrush is definitely saving my mouth. The 2 minute timer always seems to end before I'm done brushing -- can you tell I really like this toothbrush? It's just finally nice to have something that works as well as this does that also warns if and when you're bearing down on your teeth too much along with the different brush heads and it intuitively knowing how to work with each of those. I use the flossing brush head and the polishing head. Love them both.

I have to admit that I was nervous to spend this kind of cash on a toothbrush, but I figured that it was cheaper to buy this than pay to fill cavities or have a root canal. The smartguide screen lets you know exactly how long you've been brushing. and even has a neat little light that goes on if you brush too hard. That was great for me, since I had a habit of brushing way too hard and my dentist told me that my gums were already beginning to recede from it. I've never had an electric toothbrush, and you have to get used to the feeling. But now, after several days of using it, it's hard to imagine going back to a manual toothbrush! Bottom line: Expensive but worth it.

Absolutely the Best Yet (We've Tried Many Toothbrushes),
By
This review is from: Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart Guide (Health and Beauty)
Our family has used a lot of different electric toothbrushes in the last fifteen years and this one is the best ever. This is why: 1. The Smart Guide Technology is GREAT. In the past, with other toothbrushes without the 'smart guide' we did not know if we were putting enough or too much pressure on our teeth with the toothbrush. With a different Oral B model a few years ago I used too much pressure and temporarily damaged the enamel on my teeth. A dentist told me to lighten up on the pressure. But after that I stopped using that toothbrush out of fear of damaging my teeth. A relative also used that same model and damaged his enamel so badly that he sought the care of a dentist who confirmed his enamel was damaged (temporarily) but it was so bad he had to take painkilling medication. In the model's defense my husband used that same model with no problem. This Oral B model is superior because it senses the pressure so we don't damage our teeth AND so that we apply enough pressure to clean our teeth well. I have my children using this now also as now they know when they are applying the right amount of pressure. I have struggled over the years to try to get them to brush their teeth well enough and long enough. 2. The visual aid helps with the timing of the brushing. The little screen shows the time in numbers and it shows what quadrant of the teeth to brush at that time. Yes other electric toothbrushes that my children used had a beep or a pause in the brushing action to indicate each 30 second segment of time. But for whatever reason, this different visual aid is helping them more. They like to watch it and count down the time. They make a game of it. (You can also change it to count up if you prefer that.) My kids are no longer claiming to 'not hear the beep' or to rush through the brushing and shut it off saying 'it must have been long enough and it must be making a mistake to still be on'. The kids (boys age 8 and 11) also like the visual reminder of which quadrant to brush in that 30 second segment. 3. After the cleaning my mouth feels like it does after a professional cleaning. 4. Lastly and less importantly, the boys think the toothbrush with the screen is cool and fun. Confession: My husband is a toothbrush junkie always in search of the latest and best one on the market. This is why our family has bought (too many) electric toothbrushes in the past. I'm the type who uses one that works well until it dies, but he is the one spending money to buy the latest and greatest. In this case I am glad he bought this one! Honestly this is a great toothbrush!

This is my first electric toothbrush. I have braces and I thought an electric brush would be useful. My teeth really do feel "dentist clean!" Because of my braces, I can't use the brush heads that came with the brush, but I will review the overall brush.I chose the Triumph because of the smart timer. It counts down the minutes and provides a visual guide for the quadrants in your mouth. The display is easy to read. Before this toothbrush, I don't think I was brushing long enough. Additionally, the brush itself "buzzes" every 30 seconds, so you know to switch quadrants. This means that when traveling, you can ensure you're brushing the proper amount of time. I think the multiple brushing modes are useful. I've used the clean and sensitive modes. Additionally, I chose Oral-B because of the large number of brush heads. It is comfortable to hold and easy to use. I've had no problems with it. I recommend it.

Better than Sonicare...,

This review is from: Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart Guide (Health and Beauty)
Just got back from the dentist after not going for a year (i know, very bad). I started using this toothbrush about a month or two ago. The hygeinist couldn't stop saying, "beautiful teeth, just beautiful." I don't floss, and of course I don't condone my actions, but this toothbrush got rid of any and all plaque that might have been in my mouth. I used to use a Sonicare which I think is also a good toothbrush. But my problem is that I brush too hard and therefore have gum recession. With the sonicare, I didn't feel like it did a good enough job on its own and I was still pushing too hard with it to clean my mouth. If you do that with this toothbrush, say goodbye to your gums. You just have to barely apply it to your teeth and it does all the work an electric toothbrush should. I will never go back to Sonicare.Negatives: -I think the indicator that you're brushing too hard is kinda silly. If i actually brushed even close to hard enough that it would activate the sensor, all my teeth would've fallen out by now. -The price is steep. -I wish the floss action brush came in a SOFT variety.

I already owned the Oral B Excel Toothbrush, but when the Oral B Triumph was introduced, it was advertised as having a flossing action, I thought I must have it. Yes, it is a good electric toothbrush, and the Smart Guide is a useful gadget, but as for helping floss my teeth, it falls short of the mark. I guess there is no substitute for dental floss.

I have a dentist at home now!,

This review is from: Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart Guide (Health and Beauty)
I was worried that I was buying into hype but this is the real deal. I have a Sonicare that I have been using for a couple of years. My dentist has noticed a decline in my oral hygene. I knew I better do something different.I made the decision to drop the big bucks on this product with the reasoning that the price tag will be worth it if my teeth stay where they currently are. I can't beleive how clean my teeth are after the first use. It got everything near the gumline and between the teeth. You can really feel the rubber "flossers" getting into everywhere. The Smart Guide remote sensor is nice but not that big a deal so far. My dentist was afraid I was brushing too hard. This is another reason why I chose this model. It will tell you if you are pressing too hard. The timer is nice also. I don't really need it but I think in the future it will keep me more consistant and I do use it. If you brush for 2 minutes, you get a smiley face. If you brush for 3 minutes, you get a surprise. There was nothing to do to set up the remote device, instant. There are a lot of other features on the unit that they don't really detail until you read the instructions. This is a good thing and it is always nice to have options. I HATE accessories!!! This one has plenty of them BUT you DON'T have to use them. It is all MODULAR. You only use the pieces you want. The plug and inductive charger are tiny and that is all I use. The base, cases and other parts will forever sit in the box. If you travel with it, the size and weight of the charger are excellent! You see in the photo a large base that the brush sits in. There is a small "ring" on the right side of the photo, that is the charger. You can insert into the large base if you want or just use the small portion. I haven't tried the polishing head but I will eventually. My wife said my teeth looked cleaner than they previously had, woo hoo! I just ordered one for her today!!

Horrible Battery; Good Toothbrush,
By
This review is from: Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart Guide (Health and Beauty)
This toothbrush is great, when it works.I purchased mine from Amazon and followed the "first time use" instructions (charge it completely). Immediately the next day I noticed that the battery life was low, even though I had it on its stand all day (this is recommended by Oral B). I thought about returning it, but I decided that maybe it wasn't in its stand correctly. Well, it's been a couple months now and things haven't improved. Sometimes I will pick up the brush when it has full battery power and then it will die while I am brushing. I'm going to have to send it in for service eventually, but I do not want to because of the other review on here that says they are still waiting for their replacement! According to the booklet, you void the warranty if you open the bottom of the toothbrush to pull out the battery. I'm tempted to do that, since it looks like there is simply an NiMH AA battery inside. But, I will probably send it in. The LCD display is pretty cool. The 2 minute timer isn't necessary, since it will vibrate after every 30 seconds, signifying that you are either done, or you should switch quadrants of the mouth. The brush warning isn't necessary either--you have to press really hard to activate the warning light. Ironically, I like the LCD display mostly because of the clock feature!

Fabulous Tooth Brush!,

This review is from: Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart Guide (Health and Beauty)
This toothbrush is amazing. I had an Oral B electric toothbrush before this one that I absolutely loved, and I doubted that any product would be better than that one. But the features on this product are so logical and have been extremely helpful to me. I learned almost immediately that I had not been brushing my teeth long enough, the sensor on the LED screen rewards you with a happy face when you brush for 2 minutes and the face winks at you when you brush for 2.5 minutes. I find myself looking forward to that smile everyday. It has options for sensitive teeth that are nice and the unit itself is completely waterproof and practical. I brush in the shower without any problems. It is loud at first, but not so loud as to be annoying. I think this item is great and I plan to buy one for my family members soon.
