5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't know what I was missing!
I have never really enjoyed this type of sex being done to me. Perhaps because I did not have the right person performing this well enough to please me. In searching out books on this subject I purchased Oral Caress because I would really like to be thrilled by someone doing a good job at this. After going through the book, my husband (especially) is now on his way to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Text pretty good, graphics from a porn film?
The text in this book was fairly helpful and informative. However, I wasn't quite as excited about the pictures.

The pictures were explicit, which was fine and appropriate for this book.

The problem was many of the pictures looked like they'd come out of a pornographic film. (Models with the big hair, heavy make-up, and dead eyes look.) Scanning the credits at...

I have never really enjoyed this type of sex being done to me. Perhaps because I did not have the right person performing this well enough to please me. In searching out books on this subject I purchased Oral Caress because I would really like to be thrilled by someone doing a good job at this. After going through the book, my husband (especially) is now on his way to giving me "thrills" beyound what I thought could happen to me. Basically I know most men who enjoy doing this think they are "experts" in the field when in reality they could use a little help in how to please a woman. I live in a very cold state and I know I will now be warmed up with what we have learned from this book...:)

4.0 out of 5 stars I don't what the person above expected, but..., January 31, 1998

This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
I think this book is great. The author treats the topic very professionally by explaining the history behind C. His humor is effective 75% of the time. I found the pictures erotic rather than offensive, and I enjoyed the personal stories. He gives a numerous resources for toys and aids that can enhance sex in general and oral sex specifically. The little bits of info that he shares with the reader can make the difference between and extremely erotic encounter, and just a half-ass (I couldn't help it) try at something new. (I especially liked his suggestion to rub viginal juices on the neck and nipples of ones lover. Further increasing the pleasure of kissing those areas.) In all, I think Dr. Birch did a terrific job of conveying the mutual pressure of cunnilingus.

The problem was many of the pictures looked like they'd come out of a pornographic film. (Models with the big hair, heavy make-up, and dead eyes look.) Scanning the credits at the back of the book, I think I'm correct in my assumption about the models.

I was not comfortable sharing this book with my wife, as I felt the pictures might be more offensive than instructional.

I would prefer seeing loving couples showing the "how to" rather than actors and actresses.

5.0 out of 5 stars HAD WHAT I WANTED, March 29, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
I didn't buy this book for the photos. Would buy a slick girlie magazine if that's want I wanted. I didn't buy this book for lots of cute little names for a hundred bearly indistinguishable oral maneuvers. I've received enough oral stimulation from enough men to know what good cunnilingus is. Dr. Birch hits it right on the nose (well, anatomically a bit lower). He sticks to the basics, and believe me, there are a lot of men who never learned them! I happened to fall in love with a guy who needed encouragement, directions, and some good solid advice. I must admit, working the G Spot into his growing skill with cunnilingus was just what the doctor ordered. Great idea and for me, the best of all worlds.

3.0 out of 5 stars for the neophyte only, October 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
Very basic with almost no technique information. Valuable in it's emphasis on communication and some simple, and possibly only marginally valuable, techniques on helping women uncomfortable with oral stimulation begin to enjoy reciving oral sex.

If you have much experience with oral sex I do not reccommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One woman's view, June 11, 1999

This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
As a liberated woman I found the book quite playful! My boyfriend and I read it together and in many places the author talked of the importance of verbal communication. My lover and I talked and played as we read the book, tried some things (love the G-spot suggestion), and basically had a good time. We had not tried all the positions, but we did and we agree about the one the author says will usually work best. Sure, if a guy sits down with the book and is just looking for a totally new but sure-fire technique, he's likely to be disappointed. However, for us it was exciting and educational; and personally, I liked the women's stories at the end. I wrote one and give it to my boyfriend. The author didn't think of that, but I loved doing it and my boyfriend was excited by my openness. Thanks Dr. Birch from two happy lovers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive? Illustrated?, May 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
This book is neither comprehensive nor illustrated as it is named. The book is more a psycological view of what women want and need, but there is little on cunnilingus, apart from some pages and pictures. About illustrated, it contains b&w (in a low quality print) pictures that seem obtained from a erotic magazine, very dissapointing when compared with Hopper's Kama Sutra for example. I would recommend this book only for people interested in the theme and that have no experience. For the rest I would recommend "How to Give Her Absolute Pleasure : Totally Explicit Techniques Every Woman Wants Her Man to Know."

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't Help Me Very Much, January 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
I confess; I bought this book for my partner. I thought that it would make for good bedtime reading and interesting discussion and we could both learn something along the way. I was counting on the photographs to be educational, and they aren't, really. Neither are they even very arousing. My partner has never picked the book back up even though it's in plain sight near the bed. I am very much disappointed. This book is more of a general overview on oral sex in general and I was looking for something more specific-technique oriented. I've browsed other books on the subject and I will probably give one of them a try.

Mmmm, don't you just LOVE that cover? It makes my mouth water just looking at it. Anyway, during the time in life when I can relax with the girlfriend I am usually licking her sweet spot for as long as she wants. I know a couple of female friends right now whose men are a little reluctant to get down on them. I can see the hurt in their eyes about it and it makes me sad. Women LOVE to have the honey pot eaten, savored. I encourage the less than eager to understand the GOOD you are doing when you deign to her sex wishes. I would like to write some more but it's "snacktime". Buy this book now.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mismatched, December 22, 2000

This review is from: Oral Caress: The Loving Guide to Exciting a Woman: A Comprehensive Illustrated Manual on the Joyful Art of Cunnilingus (Paperback)
The cover and description promises a mature, sophistiated presentation of the subject matter. However, I found a less than desireable presentation and some trashy illustrations that made me decide not to give this as a gift. Too bad. We could use a great book on the subject maybe Felice Dunas could tackle this one.
