My teeth got so much whiter!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oral B Professional Care SmartSeries 5000 - 4 Brusheads - Dental Office Exclusive Model (Health and Beauty)
I can't recommend this enough. This toothbrush made my teeth so much whiter and each time left my mouth feeling so clean, like after you come from the dentist after cleaning. It's amazing, and I love the smartguide. It really helps you focus on where to brush and alerts you if you brush too hard. I like the fact that they have different kind of heads, like floss action, interdental, sensitive or the whitening head (love it!). I used to have a sonicare, this blows that away. Highly recommend.

IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS.
Since I agree with all of the other 5 star ratings, I thought I would address the CONS from the less than 5 star ratings. And, there is no sense in repeating all of the great things in all of the excellent in-depth reviews on this Oral-B Toothbrush. Con: THE WIRELESS SMART GUIDE'S CLOCK CAN ONLY BE SET AT 12:00. Response: The wireless smart guide clock can be set to either 12 or 24 hour a day clock. And, I love having the clock sitting on my bathroom counter top to help me keep track of my morning schedule. Con: YOU REALLY DON'T NEED THIS PART AS IT ONLY TELLS YOU WHEN THE RECOMMENDED TIME OF 2 MINUTES IS DONE. Response: As is stated above, it is also a very accurate clock and can also keep track of the 45 second brushing cycles. I like this feature. Also, if you tend to brush too firmly a little red light flashes on the LCD screen and the pulsation of the brush stops. Con: You'll also receive a timer that reminds you when to move to a different quadrant of your mouth; a useless gimmick for an adult, in my opinion. Response: I am an adult and I still love this feature. It is very easy not to brush your teeth long enough especially if you are in a hurry. The timer doesn't allow this to happen. Now, some extra PROs: Previously I was a diehard Philips Sonicare user for many years. But, I was having some problems with my gums and deep plaque buildup. I finally decided that there must be something better and more effective. After much research online and with my dentist's input, I decided on the Oral-B. I absolutely love the deep cleaning feature and brush head. Actually, I never use any other head or brushing strength other than the deep cleaning mode and brush head. The brush head has numerous styles of bristles that accomplish different things from deep cleaning, removing plaque, cleaning between teeth, massaging gums, etc. You couldn't give me my Philips Sonicare back. My original hesitance was the price. But, it was worth the money considering I only have one set of teeth and gums. One minor CON: The user manual was not written to be user friendly. It does a poor job of explaining how to set the Smart Guide Clock features. Just be prepared to read it carefully and keep it nearby for a few days. When you consider all of the awesome features, the user manual is not worth losing a start or a half star.

Really cleans your teeth...,

Oral B Professional Care SmartSeries 5000
Our dentist recommended the Oral B 5000, because, she said, "it's the best consumer device for removing plaque, overall cleaning, and cleaning between teeth". Now that we've used it for a couple of weeks, I'd have to say she was correct. It does a better job cleaning your teeth than a manual toothbrush. Your teeth won't feel like they've just been professionally cleaned, but at least cleaner than with a regular toothbrush. Oral B includes a mini-CD to explain the correct usage. You'll also receive a timer that reminds you when to move to a different quadrant of your mouth; a useless gimmick for an adult, in my opinion, but it might encourage a child to conscientiously brush their teeth. The timer is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, sits anywhere on a counter-top or sticks to a wall with the included double-sided tape, is operated by two AA batteries, and wirelessly communicates with the toothbrush. The timer's LCD screen also indicates which brushing mode an operating toothbrush is set to: daily clean, sensitive, massage, whitening or deep clean. This feature is useful for learning how to use the toothbrush; i.e., by you recognizing the sound of each brushing mode. When the toothbrush is off, the timer is a digital clock; we use it as a desk clock. Oral-B makes several different types of toothbrush heads: Daily Clean, Sensitive, Massage, Whitening, Ortho Care, Deep Clean, Power Tip and Floss Action. All of these work fine, and none of them are cheap. If you apply "too much" pressure while brushing, the oscillating movement of the brush head continues but the pulsation stops, the feeling will change, and the sound will be different. The normal brushing speed & pulsation is somewhat more aggressive than I would prefer, but it does the job. The operating sound is quite minimal, not objectionable at all. The toothbrush handle diameter is a bit large to hold comfortably and also because of its length and diameter, a little unwieldy when brushing the back teeth. (Of course, no electric toothbrush is going to be as small as manual brush.) The handle has a slip-proof coating on the back. The device could be too big for small children to use comfortably. The base assembly is designed to hold the battery-powered toothbrush upright and the various toothbrush heads in a covered tray. The base accepts the snap-in battery charging ring. That ring refreshes a completely discharged toothbrush in several hours. The instructions recommend leaving the charging ring plugged in so the toothbrush is always fully charged and ready for use. There are no exposed electrical contacts on the charging ring, to prevent shocks in case it slips into the sink. The toothbrush also has no metal contacts, so it's a mystery to me how electricity flows from the charging ring, but it works! The base assembly has four depressions with a removable lid to hold that many brush heads. The base assembly (except the removable charging ring) can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Excellent product!
