ENTERTAINING, WITTY, INTENSE, AND DYNAMIC!!!!!!!!!!!

I would definitely recommend Orange Mound to everyone in a heartbeat even my mother!!!! It is a well written novel that deserves to be on a bestselling list. It is filled with twists and turns and the ending left me speechless. And that's almost impossible to do!

Orange Mound is an inspiring yet gritty tale that I got lost in. It is a thought provoking novel that had me thinking "what would I do if I was in that situation"? Would I take the high road or take the easy way out? We are all faced with challenges and Orange Mound explores the complexities of overcoming what is thrown our way. It explores the different routes that people choose and shows the consequences of taking those routes.

The characters pull you in and you feel like you know them personally. You root for the good guys and hate the bad guys with a passion. I think there is at least one character in the book that someone can relate to: the person trying to make a better life for themselves, the person struggling with inner demons, the person who thinks they will never find love, or the person who is trying to leave his/her past behind.

Don't walk....run and order this book today, I guarantee you will enjoy it as much as I did!

This is the story of friends growing up in Orange Mound, an area in Memphis, Tennessee, known for drugs and shady dealings. Ant, a small time marijuana dealer, decides he's had enough and wants to pursue his passion to open a restaurant, Elaine's, named and dedicated to his deceased mother. He soon discovers some people he may consider his boys are really just out to pull him down and he has a choice to make - leave it all behind or get caught up in the street games. Which will he choose?

I found Jay Fingers' "Orange Mound" to be a fast paced and good storyline. I loved the connection Tuffy and Ant made. There were some unanswered questions. A few things were a little sketchy and left me trying to figure out how to tie everything together, but I anticipate the author is not done and things about GiGi, Kendra, Wallace and even Ant and Tuffy will be answered in the future. This one screams sequel, Mr. Fingers!

I think readers will enjoy this novel as I did. There was romance, some humor, and readers get to see the dark side of some of the characters. There was deceit, drugs, dirty cops, money and action all rolled up in this novel.

Format: Paperback
When you combine elements like revenge, suspicion, love, struggle and the desire for a better life, you are basically combining the simple ingredients that make Orange Mound so entertaining. Set in a gritty neighborhood of Orange Mound, located in Memphis, TN, the story follows very recently retired hustler Ant Sanford as he tries to live behind a life of the streets and focus on a legitimate career to better himself. Ant is supported in the story telling by a very compelling cast of characters, some very scary and some very comical, who add depth to the story and engage the reader to actually care about the outcome. Jay's development of the characters works to the story's advantage, because he shows different sides of everyone's true nature, sometimes leaving you skeptical of who the true hero and the true villain is. I would recommend this book to everyone, as it is highly engaging and very entertaining from the start to it's shocking finish.

Before I began reading this book I read a little bit about the author & what I was about to start reading. It sounded good, even though I thought the cover of the book seemed a little boring just because it looked plain. But as soon as I started reading it I didn't want to put the book down, I wanted to know more & before I knew it I've read the book cover to cover. Plus this is a good example as to why you really shouldn't judge a book just by its cover. You don't know what your missing until you read it! This book reminds me of a good movie action pact & can't forget the sex scene. Even the cover fits into the story line you'll just have to read it to find out.
