We ordered a few Orb Factory projects for our 6 year old son and knew that our almost-3-year old daughter would be wanting to participate in the activity as well. So we purchased this magnetic Orb Factory project. The idea of this is perfect. It is magnetic so no "mistakes" to be made as with the other sticker-type mosaic projects. The color matching with numbers or shapes is great and so educational. Her little fingers can manipulate the squares just fine. She LOVES the sparkles on them.

There are a few reasons this product is getting only 4 stars instead of 5 from us - despite the fact that we love the product. First, the magnetic board is not very strong and the magnets do not stick the best. It is adequate but can get frustrating for little hands that bump the square next to the one they're placing. Second, the stand and board are flimsy and knock over fairly easily. We end up using the board laying down while doing the project and setting it up on the stand for display most of the time. Third, the templates have nothing to keep them on the board. A clip or a tighter fit on the board would have been very helpful so the paper wouldn't slide around.

All things, however, that have not kept us from thoroughly enjoying the product for this age group nor keep from impressing us with its educational value!

We purchased this for my 5-year old daughter for Christmas. It was easy to get started and quite fun. We had quite the creative time making our own pictures using the many different colors. It was great to see my daughter match up the colors and numbers and be successful quickly. This could bring hours of fun in the future.

What I like: One picture can be done in 15-20 minutes. It offers opportunities for improving visual perceptual as well as fine motor skills. Pictures expose kids to letters, numbers, and symbols. It gives the opportunity to work on a slanted surface. All kids have liked this activity.
What I don't like: There are exactly enough colored pieces for some of the pictures so don't lose any! Most of the sheets use colored symbols/letters/numbers, eliminating any need to check the key, just match the color. This eliminates the necessity to look down, find, and remember the needed color, therefore reducing the therapeutic value for me. Out of 20 possible pictures, only 4 are in black and white and require the child to actually use the key.

I work in the occupational therapy department in a school system and have used this activity to promote fine motor skills. It is excellent in many ways except for the flimsy easel stand they provide. Otherwise, the tiles are sparkly and a perfect size for developing fingers. My children (4yrs and 2yrs) are enjoying it and my students do as well!

I found this by accident for my 6 year old son and decided to try it. This is a delightful toy. The fact that it is magnetic is wonderful since it can be used and reused - over and over again. My son loves it and I have found that I even enjoy it. I was not sure if we'd be happy with the quality when we pulled it out of the box, but so far it is just fine and we are very happy with this. It was a great gift find and my son is playing with this toy more (the day after Christmas) then any other toy he got.

That is what my 5 year old daughter kept saying over and over while we were making the mosaics. She loves it. I thought it was great fun too. The pieces are sturdy foam and glittery. This is something she will be enjoying for a while because once she gets tired of the packaged pictures she can make her own.

My daughter got this for her 4th birthday and it is awesome!! We have done The Orb Factory sticky mosaics and my kids also love them. I like this because they can be done over and over! The blocks are very sparkly and pretty and she loves that! It is educational because kids have to match colors, numbers, shapes, alphabet, etc. My 6 year old son also loves this. They argue over who gets to do it. I can't say enough about this toy. If you are even considering it go for it. You will not regret it. If your kids likes arts/crafts then this is the ideal toy for them. I will be buying for bday gifts in the future!!

Great Item! I bought this for 4 year old triplets and they all love doing it. There are plenty of templates so the kids don't get bored.

My only suggestion would be that if you want it "ready to play" you should open it up and break apart the squares before you give it. You have to break apart all the diffent squares and it takes a good amount of time.
