The Orb Factory Sticky Mosaics Jewelry Box offers a fun and functional project to girls aged 5 years and up. The mosaic-by-numbers kit contains more than 1,000 sticky pieces that, when applied, create sparkling butterfly and flower designs on the included pink box. The box is outlined and numbered to indicate where each mosaic piece goes. And the sticky pieces are ready to apply--no glue needed--making this craft project mess-free and ready for play.

Number-Coded Box is Easy to Decorate

With more than 1,000 gems, foil pieces, and shiny puffed stickers to adorn the box, the Mosaic Jewelry Box offers hours of crafting fun. The numbers one through nine label where each color and style of piece should go on the jewelry box, making it simple to decorate. To aid further, the numbers sit within an outline of the shape of their coordinating pieces. This ensures that the position of the squares, circles, and flowers are easily identifiable by both number and shape.

Every side, including the bottom, has clearly marked spaces for the sparkly embellishments. Once the sticky pieces are in place, the jewelry box will shine with colorful butterfly and floral designs.

Sticky Pieces are Simple to Apply

The foil and glitter tiles feature sticky backs, just like stickers. Since this backing is already attached, there is no need for the mess and hassle of glue. The stickers securely attach, ensuring they stay in place over time, even through extended play.

Our testers found that the gems were more difficult to work with, as many of them left their sticky backing on the plastic when they were removed from the sheet. Peeling them off the sheet slowly and carefully seemed to eliminate this issue. Once off the sheet, they were just as easy to stick on as the foil and glitter pieces, and stay on just as securely.

Pretty Space for Stowing Treasures

The jewelry box's lid opens up to reveal a spacious area for storing treasures. The box also has a single drawer on the bottom to provide more room for jewelry or small trinkets.

I bought this for my daughter for her 5th birthday and she absolutely loved it! Sure I had to help her with some of it but she really enjoyed putting it together and loves the finished product! The stickers are pretty easy for 5 year old fingers to handle and while they adhere nicely you can also take them off if you need to reposition them. Additionally, there are enough extra stickers in case some are lost or misplaced.

I purchased this for my daughter, and we had a great time putting the stickers on. She's four, and I think that was the perfect time for her to follow the number grid directions - a year ago, she wouldn't have cared and would have just stuck stickers wherever she wanted. That's fun too, I guess! The only problem we had with the box is that the stickers came off relatively easily. They seemed pretty rugged at first but we had a lot fall off. I was very disappointed because it was such a fun project and my daughter was excited about putting her treasures in the jewelry box (the box is fairly rugged as well and would be perfect for little girls). To be fair, my two year old son helped some of the stickers fall off, so if there are no terrible toddlers around, you may be ok. I would buy it again and keep it away from my son! When you put the stickers on, make sure to put them on very firmly. This was hard for my daughter to do, so you may want to just go back and press on each one she puts on. This may help a lot.

I ordered this for my 6-year old daughter, who loves arts & crafts projects. It was perfect for her! She spent hours working on it, with hardly any assistance from me. The instructions were easy for her to follow and the stick-on "jewels" were easy for her to remove from the perforated sheets and apply to the jewelry box by herself. I bought these boxes as gifts for my 8 and 4 year old daughters, and they had a ball decorating them. I had read a number of reviews reporting that the stickers fall off the box easily, so I decided we would do a little reinforcing of our own as we decorated them. We used Mod Podge, which is a glue/sealer, in a gloss finish (it can be purchased in any craft store). As the girls were applying the stickers we would brush on a light coat of Mod Podge and then put the stickers in place. After the box was completely decorated we brushed the entire box with the sealer, taking care to generously apply it between the stickers. We wiped the excess off the top of the stickers and jewels, although that really wouldn't be necessary. It dried to a nice glossy finish, the stickers and jewels sparkle, and the stickers are stuck for good. They turned out beautifully and my girls and I are very happy with them.

I worked on this with my preschool child (just turned 5) and she had a great time. It was easy enough for her to follow, and she could have done it all by herself but it was more fun for us to work on it together. The end product is very attractive and appears as if it's going to hold together well.

Update 4/4/2010: Just several months later now, the sticky tiles are falling off slowly but surely. Only a handful have fallen off, but I can honestly say that I am very disappointed in this product. It was such fun to assemble though.

My daughter is 5. She, and daddy, are working on this project together. I only get to see her every other weekend so it has taken some time and we are still not finished.

Go to Walmart and but a kit of stick on "puffy, glittery" letters and numbers. Then go to Hobby lobby and buy a small mirror, maybe 3" by 4" or so, Anyway, you will know what size mirror to by if you take the box with you. Super glue the mirror on the inside on the lid of the box and then write a special message to the little girl with the stick on letters. My package also came with some puffy, glitery, stick on butterflies and stuff and I stuck them on the bottom of the "shelves." Finally, on the back of the bottom shelf, use numbers to indicate the year you guys worked on the project.

This will make a great memory/project even better as time goes by. Oh, I didn't have time to spell check this and I'm pretty sure "glitery" is misspelled or not even a word but you get the idea.

Just my 2cents!
