Bad Start,

This review is from: Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer (Lawn & Patio)
I ran this timer for 1 day and it began to fail to open for watering. I changed the batteries, no luck. I called Orbit and they said my water preasure had to be limited to 82lbs, which was not noted in their manual.
I turned down my water preasure to about 75lbs and it still didn't work. I had to turn down the preasure to a level that could not drive my impact sprinkler before this timer would open its water valve. I offered to send it back to Orbit, instead of Home Depot where I purchased it, so they could evaluate their problem. I received no response to my email. They claim a 4 year warranty but do not state it in their manual?? I returned mine and got a Gilmore 9100 at Lowe's. My advice, go to the Gilmour 9100 or 9400 water timer. A more time tested and reliable product.

Poor Durability,

This review is from: Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer (Lawn & Patio)
Pros
1. Easy to Use - user friendly design Cons 1. Poor Durability - two separate units failed within a year of operation. One unit failed at the hose connection. The other unit had a significant internal leak. Orbit's long warranty claim implies durability but don't be fooled. I didn't bother with sending the units back since I was not interested in getting the same timers as replacements. 2. Sensitive to Water Pressure - at times, I had to turn off the water to the timer in order to allow the weak internal valve to finally close. Otherwise, the timer would not be able to shut off the water.

Junk: Orbit Timer,

This review is from: Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer (Lawn & Patio)
I hate to be harsh but this unit is a piece of junk. It killed more of my plants/saplings by not turning on: fresh batteries are no match for the orbit. The unit has issues with not being able to turn on or off if either due to the water pressure or poor design. This product is not dependable which is exactly what you don't want in a water timer. Everything mentioned in the other negative reviews on this page I have experienced firsthand.
Buy the Melnor and rest assured your plants will be watered while you are away.

Not Durable,

I've had four of these over two years and I've had them stop working after 1-2 months. Which is serious news in Arizona. Even when they do work they rapidly start to emit a high pitch squeal that you don't want to hear at 5:00am. The start of the high pitched squeal means the unit is failing..

Couldn't make it work even on manual mode,

I see someone else also had a problem with this unit.
I installed mine with brand new alkaline batteries (Freshly purchased AND I checked then with a battery tester). I could not get it to open the valve. Well, actually, it would open for a second, if I turned the tap off, then turned it on when it was in manual mode. A spurt of water came out, then immediately stopped. I tried all sorts of faucet settings from barely open to fully opened and still nothing. I checked the battery termintals and read through the instructions a few times. I couldn't get it to work. I'm returning today to Home Depot to get a different brand. It also tricked me when I looked at it. It had a slider with AM/PM and the time. This is NOT a setting, it's a reminder. So you can't set it to turn on at 5:30AM by setting this slider. What you have to do is wake up at 5:30AM, and set the watering interval then. It will reference the time you set it. So if you want it to water every 2 days at 5:30AM, you set the dial to 2 days, then 48 hours from when you set it (say 5:30AM) it will come on. In theory, this would have been a good product. I mean, I wouldn't have minded waking up early to set it and then have it water my lawn every 3 days for me (it has settings of every day, every 2, 3, 7 days or as a non recurring single timed event. Like if you just want to water for 20 minutes). I alsmost feel bad for giving it one star, because I can't truly evaluate it without it working. On the other hand...it didn't even work...so what can I say? If it actually worked the way it was supposed to, I'd give it a lot more stars. The fact that I have to go return it and get another item gives it one star. Maybe I just got a bad one and you'll have better luck? I just home HD doesn't put my returned item back on the shelf for you to buy...

On my fourth season. I have this timer, the Orbit Yard Watering Kit, and the three port. All have been 100% reliable. I use them for drip, sprinklers, and for daily filling of the water for my chickens. Batteries last forever. I also have high water pressure - no problem. The programming is totally intuitive - no need for the manual, just follow the dial. The manual cycle is so easy too, just push one button! I couldn't be happier with a hose tap timer.

I have purchased 8 of these and they all have broken within 1 year. Orbit says they have a warranty but good luck with that. I sent one back and they sent me an inferior timer without all the features. It only took them 2 months to do it!! Now that one has stopped working, too. These don't last and are a complete bust.

Hose end broke off, big water bill.,
This review is from: Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer (Lawn & Patio)
I used this to start my lawn from seed 2 years ago and then stored it in my garage. I didn't have any problems with it the 1st time. The interval and duration times seem to work okay and the options fit my watering style well. Yesterday I prepped and reseeded my lawn and retrieved my orbit water timer with plans on watering 12 times a day with 5 mintue intervals. I tested it by turing it on and off heard the shut off click. I tightened it on the spigot and tested it with the sprinkler and it worked well. So I set it up in the evening after a hard days work. When I woke up this morning my water pressure was low. I check out the spigot where the orbit was connected and it broke off from the spigot and water was gushing out. The metal hose end was still tite on the spigot. But the plastic base connecting the hose end to the timer broke off. Now I'm looking for a better made timer. That night's water bill is probably going to be 2 to 3 times the price of the timer.

Don't buy it,
This review is from: Orbit 62015 2-Dial Hose Faucet Control Timer (Lawn & Patio)
This was the "best" timer I could buy at the local hardware. The first one leaked; the replacement never worked at all.

I have tried to program the control to come on once per day. It does not work or it comes on at a different time.
