Quick Assembly,
By
This review is from: Orbit-GingerBread House Kit with Tree, 1 Kit (Misc.)
This kit worked well overall. The pieces are quite thick and I did not have trouble with them cracking. I had the house assembled in just about ten minutes. It takes about 30 minutes to set and then you can decorate it. There is an enclosed idea sheet for decorating.
The roof pieces that came in my kit were warped and therefore didn't lay flush with the walls and began to slide off. This was easily corrected however, by adding more icing to fill the gap. The icing was very thick and was great for holding the house together but made it difficult to decorate with. With practice the results probably would have been better. There are five different types of candies included and I would have liked a few more. The jimmies wouldn't stick to the thick icing so they were nearly useless.

10 out of 12 pieces BROKEN,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Orbit-GingerBread House Kit with Tree, 1 Kit (Misc.)
This would have been a great gingerbread kit but it arrived all broken. I don't blame Amazon for this since they sent it in a big box with adequate protection. I think the manufacturer should take the blame for this since they didn't provide enough protection inside the kit's box. If they know their item is sold over the internet, then they should take better care to prevent broken pieces. Out of the 12 possible pieces that could break, my kit had 10 broken pieces. Good luck using frosting to glue broken roofs back together again. The broken Christmas tree, wreath, and gingerbread men were not possible to fix with frosting. The gingerbread itself is a good thickness (about 3/8" thick). The taste is a bit on the bland side. Compared to Pepperidge Farms Ginger Family cookies, I could barely taste the ginger or cinnamon. +++ GOOD POINTS + Thick gingerbread. + Easy instructions + Comes with extra frosting bag and plastic tip for detailing with frosting --- BAD POINTS - 10 of 12 pieces arrived broken - Broken roof pieces are impossible to fix due to the weight/thickness of the gingerbread. You will have a sad looking roof. - Broken pieces means you will spend 3 or 4 times longer to make this and will have 3 or 4 times the mess with frosting. - Not recommended for kids due to the broken pieces and mess. Your kids will be depressed by this kit. - Say goodbye to your Christmas spirit when you open the box and see the broken pieces.

the whole gingerbread house was broken! I couldnt use it at all. . I tried to "glue it back together" with frosting, as suggested but the pieces were so small and crumbly that it was a disaster. . . I was so disapointed.
Never again!!!

Gingerbread Apocalypse,

My daughter really wanted to build a gingerbread house so I ordered this as gift for her for Christmas. As others have said, it arrived with many pieces broken. We spent more time than I care to think about carefully "glueing" them back together with frosting. When we put it together the result was a slow motion collapse. So, the good part was the family togetherness trying to make the darn thing, and the bad part is that it was hopeless. We decorated the ruins. Next year we will bake our own. Don't waste your money.

The pieces were BROKEN when they arrived and I tried to glue them back together with the frosting but it was impossible. The house kept caving in. The candy to decorate with was of low quality. Consider purchasing a different gingerbread kit.

Don't buy this item!!,

The frosting was so thick that it wouldn't get on at all! I tried to use glue and frosting, but that ruined my tablecloth! Don't buy this ever! My daughter got so angry she cracked the rest of the pieces and almost broke down in tears. All of the gingerbread structures we make go bad and this was the worst.

Gingerbread House Kit Christmas 2011,
This review is from: Orbit-GingerBread House Kit with Tree, 1 Kit (Misc.)
First, I want to admit, I didn't buy this product from Amazon as I was too concerned that it would arrive broken to bits as some other reviewers have mentioned. I actually purchased it a few days before Christmas at my local Sam's Club who had a huge display of them. I have done these before with my kids, but this Gingerbread house takes the cake. The pieces were all intact and very firm. The decorating supplies were super generous in this kit. My oldest daughter and I (she is six) spent about five hours working on the house and playing with different ideas. We had a fabulous time and I would not hesitate to purchase this same house again next year, albeit, I believe purchasing an item like this in person where it can be inspected for signs of damage is a must. The only distraction from this review that I have as criticism is that the gingerbread is not very tasty. I guess it isn't really expected to be delicious considering its mass production, but I believe that the cardboard box may have been slightly more flavorful than the cookie. The rest of the candy and decorations were actually very good, a higher quality than I expected for a less than $10 kit.

I purchased this gingerbread kit at our local Sams Club and it was not broken at all. I liked the idea of actually putting the pieces together vs. the Wilton brand that already has it put together and you just decorate it. The building process was a little bit involved. My 6 yr old certainly needed help with it. I found it came with more "decorations" than the competitors brand and also the pieces were fresh. You could smell the ginderbread as soon as you opened the box. The royal icing isnt the best but you can always make that on your own very easily if you want. I think that if you can get this product via a store and not have to have it shipped and break in the shipping process it is well worth the 10-15 bucks! Fun activity for kids.

Buy Wilton instead,

This house had cheap construction. The floor was bowed, so there was no way the house could stick together. FRUSTRATING! Next time I'll just buy the Wilton one that worked far better for me last year.
