4.0 out of 5 stars Sunrise music
I'm never sure what to expect when it comes to "chill" music comps - will it be beat-less and dark, or will it have a mellow groove and make you feel all smiley? Well, this one definitely goes towards the brighter end of the spectrum. As a matter of fact, a few of these tracks are quite a few bpm's over the chill speed limit. but that's o.k. The 2 tracks...

3.0 out of 5 stars the cd works better as a drink coaster
Maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but I can't stand this CD. Compilations in general always sketch me out, so I guess it is my own fault that I bought this. I made the purchase after reading other reviews, and actually believed that this was as epic as everyone seemed to describe. Unfortunately I was entirely disapointed, and after giving it a few chances, I...

The 2 tracks each from ATB and Chicane are top notch mellow trance with nice melodies. Also, a nice short mix of ETBTG with Deep Dish on their popular "Future of the future". The absolute best cut is the rarely heard Way Out West's "the Gift" which has that great vocal snippet of "the moon and the stars...." This track is 4 years old and stills sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it. And don't miss the underappreciated Faithless with their sad but uplifting, gospel grooving "Don 't Leave". The best way I could classify this CD is "Wednesday morning as the sun is rising" music (Mondays being reserved for the slower, darker stuff, and Fridays would be more jump up jungle). I suspect that some of the techno purists might write this cd off as too comercial, but I say "so what!" this is soothing, good vibe stuff! Take a chance and enjoy it!

I made the purchase after reading other reviews, and actually believed that this was as epic as everyone seemed to describe. Unfortunately I was entirely disapointed, and after giving it a few chances, I can't get into it. It just isn't a great mix of songs. Plain and simple. Chicane is the one redeeming factor, and obviously Moby's addition is a classic, but who doesn't already own Porcelin by now? I challenge the music tastes of the reviewers who liked this cd, and of course mine is by no means golden, but come on. It just goes to show- to each his own- I suppose. This CD- is going to look great underneath my glass of water.

This is definatly one of the best cd's i've heard which contain chilled music. The beats & sounds so beautiful & tranquil but with a couple rough edges, which just enlighten the sounds. My advice.. get this cd

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly chillout music, January 6, 2001

I bought this cd under the impression that it would be "beautiful chill out music (mostly because it says that on the cover). "Porcelain" can be desribed that way so I thought the rest would be like that. Well, I didn't know that "beautiful" and "chill-out" meant techno dance haush-baush. The only redeeming songs are by "Chicane". 3 minutes of rain and mumbling? Give me a break! I would have bought a nature cd if that's what I wanted. I guess if you can tune out the constant thump-thump beat and listen to the background keyboard "atmospheres" it's not so bad. I guess I'll stick with "Enigma" or "Moodswings" for beautiful, chillout, ORIGINAL, music. Oh yeah, can anyone make a cool, real chill-out cd with out singing on it?

I bought this cd for the song "Porcelain" and was expecting the rest of the cd to be average. I was pleasantly surprised. The whole cd is exceptional! If you have any doubts at all, put them aside. You will not be disappointed!
