This review is from: The Orchard Almanac: A Seasonal Guide to Healthy Fruit Trees (Paperback)
Purchased this book because we just bought a home with fruit trees on the property and this book was specifically recommended to me by a friend who also has fruit trees. I am absolutely amazed at how this little book can teach sooooo much! A truly month by month guide to the care of trees, it is easily adapted to a slightly warmer climate. Each month focuses on the overall care of the trees but what things to be on the lookout for and when to treat for what. The book approaches what to use for pesticide/herbacide control from both an organic perspective and synthetic perspective. It teaches you how to identify the typical problems encountered with fruit trees and how to manage them. The authors write in a simple, easy to read and learn format so literally, someone like me who has absolutely no experience with fruit trees can learn and manage them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has or will plant fruit trees on their property. Apples are the main focus of this book but peaches, plums and cherries are also in here. The care is somewhat the same and the routines are very similar. No fluff, nothing confusing. Just straight forward, consumer friendly, helpful information to get you trees healthy and producing.
