Cute Reprint,
This review is from: Orchard Valley Brides: Norah\Lone Star Lovin' (Mass Market Paperback)
There are 2 very cute novels in Orchard Valley Brides. There is a HUGE but, though. These are reprints of two previously published books in 1992 and 1993. No where on the cover, back or introduction does it say these are reprints. I absolutely hate this practice of publishers or authors that do this. This book is less expensive than buying these books separately, but please do not mislead your readers into thinking they are getting a new story!
The two books are `Norah' and `Lone Star Lovein''. They both intertwine a bit. In `Norah' a rich and handsome, of course, Texan crashes in his airplane in Oregon. There is an attraction between him and Norah, a nurse at the hospital. Of course, they have a split and get back together for a happy ending - no surprise in these stories. In `Lone Star Loven' Norah's friend Sherry comes to Texas to be a nurse and mid wife in a small town. She meets a handsome, well off rancher, and his daughter immediately sets out on a campaign to bring the two of them together. They kiss and fall immediately in love, then have problems and a happy ending. Debbie Malcomber writes sweet, cute, interesting stories, she includes a letter in the beginning to welcome you to her writing and tells about herself in relation to the stories. It's great personalization, but I would appreciate her admitting that these are not new books. They are an enjoyable read and draw you in with a smile - as long as you haven't been misled into thinking these are new novels, that is.

I was so disappointed in this book. I thought it would be a lengthy complicated plot book and it was really two short stories that seem to be almost carbon copies of each other.

I love every book Debbie Macomber writes. I have tried to get every single 1 and this 1 was just as good as the rest of her books. Fabulous author!!

The book arrived in plenty of time for me to read it soon after the one that preceeded it. That made it easy to still be familiar with the characters in both books.

This was the last of 3 books written about Orchard Valley. Having recently finished the first two, this was a must! It was delightful to see "happy ever after" endings with some twists, and not the graphic porno that some writers seem to have to use to sell. Great as always, Debbie MacComber!

Second Half Better Than First,

This review is from: Orchard Valley Brides: Norah\Lone Star Lovin' (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was a continuation of the first "Orchard Valley Grooms," and I read it due to wondering about the third Sister, Norah.
Norah's love story was very predictable and pleasant. I zoomed through it due to knowing what was going to happen. This is unusual for me with a Debbie Macomber book. However, the second half of the book was a new story about a friend of Norah's, Sherry, which we were briefly acquainted with from Valerie's romance in the first book. Now, I really enjoyed Sherry's tale. For one thing, you the reader, knows the cowboy and the nurse are going to end up together. However, Ms. Macomber did put in new details and made the story fresh to me. All in all, it was a nice read and I still like Ms. Macomber's style.

"Orchard Valley Brides", a sequel to Orchard Valley Grooms: Valerie\Stephanie, consists of two previously published books by Debbie Macomber: "Norah", first published in 1992 and "Lone Star Lovin'" first published in 1993.
Norah Norah Bloomfield's sisters Valerie and Stephanie have found true love but Norah is still looking for Mr. Right. She certainly doesn't think it will be Valerie's ex-boss Rowdy Cassidy, whom she meets after he crashes his small plane in Orchard Valley. Rowdy is cantankerous, stubborn, and proud yet Norah is increasingly attracted to him. There's one big problem however - Norah thinks Rowdy is still in love with Valerie. I really enjoyed reading "Norah". Yes, the story is a bit implausible (I doubt there's a hospital in the world that would allow Rowdy to get away with what he does) but the chemistry between Norah and Rowdy is good and it is fun to watch them fall in love - in fact, I was smiling the whole time I read the book. Norah's concerns about whether or not Rowdy is still in love with Valerie are very understandable and add another dimension to the book. Rowdy at first is a bit of a cliché as a character but as the book goes along you begin to understand why he acts the way he does and his character becomes a bit deeper. Lone Star Lovin' Sherry Waterman feels the need for a change so she leaves Orchard Valley and moves to Pepper, Texas to work as a Physician Assistant. She knows things will be different in Texas but isn't quite expecting everyone in Pepper to know her business - including her growing attraction to rancher Cody Bailman. Cody seems attracted to Sherry but he's not quite so good in the romance department. Hopefully he'll get better - Heather, his twelve year old daughter, thinks Sherry would be the perfect mom. Sherry was such a minor character in the Orchard Valley series that I was a bit hesitant to read an entire book about her but I was glad I did as "Lone Star Lovin'" is a very cute romance. Macomber always does an excellent job of portraying small town life and Pepper, Texas, with its assortment of slightly eccentric but caring characters is a lot of fun to visit. The romance between Cody and Sherry is very cute and there are some very funny moments as Cody does his best to woo Sherry. Heather is a typical Macomber child, a bit too good to be realistic, but she plays an important part in the romance. Orchard Valley fans will be happy to see Norah appear in the book and to get an update on her life with Rowdy. I really enjoyed reading "Orchard Valley Brides".

As always Debbie Macomber has done it. She can weave a tale around a known place and yet make it totally believable. You can put yourself right in the area and know exactly where you are. She is the BEST!
