This is a very sheer album, as Lynch's variations on these classical themes have nothing orthodox about them at all.

Firstly, be warned these are NOT by any means loyal to the originals. Instead of playing the classics with an electric guitar, Lynch opted for using them as a supportive canvas to jam over and show off his incredible guitar chops. Purists might consider this is a total sacrilege, but electric guitar aficionados will appreciate the freshness of Lynch's (dis)arrangements and his "go for it" attitude.

Secondly, why would Mr. Scary enter anyway in the land of Uli Jon Roth, Malmsteen and Blackmore? He's just into a less regimented, more relaxed style of playing; so he needed to do this his own way. Therefore, what you'll get here is no less than metal in its purest essence: a man relentlessly shredding around, ripping, burning, having fun... and even making "Fur Elise" sounding like anything but the original. Can one be more "metal" than that?

I say, if that's not metal enough for you, then I inform you Lynch not only "disgraced" the aforementioned Beethoven's classic, but also everything else he touched on this album. Frankly, if this album doesn't please the rebel in you, then you're certainly dead!

To conclude, I must say I enjoy this release a lot. It's full of great guitar licks and phrases, with the technique, feel, musicality, tone and attitude Lynch is famous for. To top it all, this wonderful and over-the-top lead guitar fest occurs over several proven, timeless musical pieces which endure the furious attack of Mr. Scary with grace and coherence --in spite of the apparently disparate blend of styles.

In few words, this "classical pieces butchery" is one of the best jobs George Lynch has ever accomplished.

I've been a HUGE fan of George Lynch from the beginning. I own everything he has released. I CD is just amazing!!!! This is his first instermental cd he has released, and man he delievers the goods. Yeah it's backed with classical music, but his guitar work (I think blows Yngwie cd from a few years ago away) George is a GUITAR GOD!!!! Hopefully this is not a lost treasure that no one picks up. this is a CD that EVERY guitar lover should own!!!!! LONG LIVE MR. SCARY!!!!!!

I really appreciate when a musician try to experiment something different, sometimes the result is not good; but sometimes come out something great, if you are going to buy this album expecting to hear more Dokken or Lynch mob songs stop and better try the new T&N record, but if your mind is open if you want to hear some music that is in the mind of everyone added with the unique George Lynch style then you have to buy this record, I really enjoyed listened it from the beginning to the end, George does and excellent work put it out that sound that only he can get out of an axe.

OK..these are a "rock" take on some classical standards. They are what they are..purists log out now!

Lynch essentially solo's over backing tracks, for the most part they are very lush in the orchestral dept. So far so good. Lynch's playing is just sublime at times. His old style and expected quirks are all present and correct, mixed with his little known prowess a s neo-classical shredder. That said, whilst he's creative here and jams away. He still is senstive to the melody of the song and this is not a Malmsteen-esque widdle-twiddle-diddle blurb of notes, for the sake of playing notes! No, there is some tasty playing.

The big let down, and what perhaps ruins the listen is the drums! Good grief, who on earth mixed these drums tracks? Only one or two tracks have a drum sound / mix that sits well withing the music. Most tracks sound like there is a drummer in the room wth you, and your struggling to not let the drums dominate the tracks! So a record thats all about guitar playing is totally dominated by somewhat flat sounding drums.

Shame, this could have been a incredible release. Still could be! If I was Lynch, I would demand a re-mix in the drum dept.

So as a player, I love the paying. But I have to be in the mood to deal with the drum sound which completely swamps my listening experience. I can get passed it, but how many causal listeners will?

Re-mix George?

George Lynch's ride on this CD is just that...a wicked ride that at times left me stopping the CD and 'rewinding' just to hear what was played!!!

I think people miss the point of this album. While there may be a "Drum Machine", the point is to listen to his guitar playing which as always is fabulous. I think his original instrumental works are more stimulating, tracks such as Satan's Shorts, I will Remember, and Tierra del Fuego. But in this album his style provides a unique sound to these classic and well known songs.

I don't think George's just is taking advantage of his fan base, the Scorpions cover track seem to me to hearken back to his history with that band which true fans would realize.

All in all if you like these classic songs this is a good album to listen to for Mr. Scary's unique voicing on them. If I could do half stars it would be a 3 1/2 the reason it is not a 4 1/2 or 5 star rating is for the reason I stated before, I think his original works are far better than these tracks and that is what I judge it by.
