This book has stunning photographs of all kinds of orchids. If you like the front cover, you are sure to like this book. The book is large, not only coffee-table size, but also very thick (and heavy!). With the gorgeous pictures, it would make a wonderful gift for any orchid lover. Unfortunately I haven't seen the main competition, the book "Orchids" so I can't say how they compare, but I can't imagine going wrong with this book.

I bought this book for my brother for his birthday. He was floored by its beauty.

I placed a rush order for this book to give to a wonderful lady who loves orchids. When I saw this book I thought the images would last longer than a flowering plant. The book arrived timely, and I presented it to her for her 90th birthday! She adores the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates perfection in flowers and photography.

I bought this as a gift for an photographer. As such it was a bit disappointing. All the orchids were photographed in the same frontal view and were a bit fuzzy. The cover photograph was the most effective of the bunch.

As an orchid grower, author and judge I had always wondered about this book but had never bought it as I was unsure of what it contained. Recently I saw a copy in a bookstore and I paged through it. How glad I am I never bought it. As a coffee table book it is acceptable to those who do not know better, certainly some of the images are pretty but most are mediocre. As a reference book it is absolutely useless. Why on earth would you go to all the trouble to photograph a flower and publish it in a book and merely name it eg 'Cattleya hybrid'? Orchid growers and plant people do not only want to see the pictures - THEY WANT TO KNOW THE PROPER NAME! Would it have been so difficult to include the name for those who are interested? The author/photographer would have had much better sales if this had been done as the majority of orchid growers would have been more interested. A disappointing book.
