This second edition of the Encyclopedia surpasses the first ( It's reselling here for more money then its original selling price.) The artwork and fine detail is breath-taking. The book even has 7 plants that are now orphans thanks to the new DNA studies by Mark Chase. This a valuable resource - a must have.

I was disappointed . I ended up buying the second edition of the orchid book. Not the one I wanted. I do not remember it saying that it was another version. I wanted the original. I guess that is why the price was lower. It was in great condtion but not the illustrations and completeness of the first.

I bought 3 copies, 1 for my mother and the other for 2 friends of hers. They loved the book since it has a clear clasification of oncidiums drawn on real sizes. The flower you see in the book is a real life size, which is perfect for them as they are taking classes on orchideology. Also the price of the book was great since we saw that same book on another web site and the price was 150% over what we paid. They would recommend to buy this book if what you are looking for is to learn how to classify oncidiums. Hope this helps. sonia b

A wonderful and clear, fully updated pictorial overview of all botanical variations within the genus Oncidium (and some related genera). Great stuff for breeders and collectors of Oncidium!!
