Book Description

Follow Jake Adams on his fifth thrilling adventure in this international thriller series. Jake is back in Europe, trying his best to stay out of trouble. But that's never easy for him. What seems like a standard murder investigation turns into a complex conspiracy that will rock the institutions of Europe, and thrust Jake into an insidious plot that pits the old world of the Teutonic Order against new nanotechnology.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Sex - Not Enough Plot Action June 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've read all of the Jake Adam's novels and this one was the first one I consider a total let down. I saw a downward spiral with Vital Force but was hoping Rise of Order would get back to the mostly action-packed adventure seen in the Dolomite Solution and the Extreme Faction. I guess the Extreme Faction was my favorite of the series. I think this novel could have been more interesting if there was less sex and more action. From previous reviews, it appears the author might be trying to project a James Bond image and I don't mind that, but I didn't get that impression at all. The first couple of Jake Adams novels are more plot driven with a lot of action. I don't typically read novels where the male "hero" have a female counterpart that is just as bad as he is because I think somethings are just suppose to be manly (smile); however, I liked the Toni/Jake pairing and their ability to read each other and kick some serious butt. I absolutely hated most of this novel, especially the ending and am not sure if I'll get the next one if the series continues.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as his other books July 16, 2013

I have been reading all of the Jake Adams series because I like espionage thrillers. Like some of the other reviews, this one had more sex than others in the series and it does not add to the story line.

2.0 out of 5 stars Or Disorder? March 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Espionage, yes. Thriller, no. This is a predictable pot-boiler that has little to offer readers, unless they are part of the Jake Adams fan club.

The fifth of the series has Jake getting mixed up in a plot involving an organization bent on stealing microbiological technology for malicious purposes. Typical Jake Adams fare, with plenty of action, suspense, intrigue, and a new love interest. Hopping between Vienna, Budapest, Prague, the story finds Jake in one dangerous situation after another, dodging bullets, shotguns, and knives while getting to the bottom of the mystery. These novels are just right...never too long or too deep, but are still plenty involved that each one makes for an interesting and entertaining read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great June 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A good yarn but perhaps the plot is a little more far-fetched than some of Mr Scott's other Jake Adams stories. But given all the stories are a bit far fetched, then it is still worth reading in the sequence of the 8 or so Jake Adams stories.
