5.0 out of 5 stars This is *NOT* for an Android Phone (only Kindle Fire!!!!) December 23, 2011
(I thought I'd write this review as it seems unclear from Amazon's description. Please vote this up so others can see this, thanks.)

This App from the Amazon AppStore is ONLY for the Kindle Fire. Not your Android phone. Not your Samsung Galaxy Tab. Not your rooted Nook Tablet. Only the Kindle Fire. Hence "Kindle Fire Edition."

I have a (international version, unlocked) Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-i9100) with an AT&T SIM right now and I'm running the phone version of this game. The only way to get Gameloft's game for the Android PHONE is to go directly to their site and download the .apk and install them that way. It is not available in the Android Market, or Amazon AppStore. (You have to enable downloads and installs of non-Market applications in your settings to install APKs directly).

In any case, the game itself: I'm running the game perfectly fine on my Galaxy S2 (1.2GHz dual core, 4.3" screen). It drains battery really fast, so be sure to be plugged in if you're doing any serious quest runs or raids. However, it doesn't eat that much data (and works over 3G and "4G" (HSPA+ on AT&T on my phone)) without lag. Graphics are very smooth and not jumpy. Overall feel and artwork is just like Blizzard's World of Warcraft, which I've played for 2-3 years (quit 5 years ago). It's amazing how great this looks on a mobile phone, and how playable it is. Think of it as "WoW Mobile". Without some of the tedious tasks associated with WoW (if you played WoW, you know what I mean: Rep grinding; 10, 20, 40 man raids...)

1.0 out of 5 stars This isn't an Amazon Issue! PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASE! December 22, 2012
Verified Purchase
I am a Kindle Fire HD user who purchased this game (the first time) a few weeks ago. Right around the time I was getting into it, there was an update that screwed it all up for me. I had paid 6.99 for the game, not counting what I had spent on runes. When the update hit sometime last week, I try to log in and I get a mssg telling me to update the game to play, only you cannot update. You basically can't connect to the game. I read somewhere to uninstall & reinstall. Tried that. Didn't work. Did a full uninstall (took it out of my Kindle/Amazon content completely) & then purchased again. Didn't work again. Finally, I got fed up & put it on my cell phone (21.00 now + runes). It's glitchy on my cell phone, not near as lovely as playing it on the Kindle. Today I contacted Amazon b/c after reading reviews it seems some ppl think this is Amazon's issue. Not so. I was informed that they are waiting on the update from Gameloft. When I told them I contacted Gameloft multiple times & that their customer service sucked, I was told that it wasn't the first time they have heard that. So, I am not the only person angry with Gameloft and their lack of response to my inquiries. If they could just send me an email saying, "Hey, we're sorry but it's going to take ___ days & then you should be good to go...", then I would feel like an important customer. Instead I get automated responses or something like 'We are aware of the issue, sorry. Please log in later, it should work.'
I will say that when this game was working for us Kindle users, the graphics were not bad (a few glitchy things here and there, but overall you can't beat it). It is a fun mmorpg, similar to WoW but portable and less details. It was pretty rad. There are guilds, quests, dungeons & now they have PvP.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Users Forgotten December 24, 2012
By Alec

I purchased this app a year ago and it was nearly flawless. Great gameplay, good story and an awesome community. Then, without notice, it stopped working and the game said I needed an update to login. This update does not exist, and gameloft continues to spit in the face of its kindle customers, from which much of their highest praise came from. I also have a recurring membership payment which I cannot unsubscribe from. I have called customer service multiple times and have been hung up on more than once. I am considering the possible pursuit of legal action for my membership payments which have gotten me nothing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great app, fun, adventure awaits. Little flaws. November 30, 2011

This game is a great morpg, to play you must be connected to wi-fi. The game is a little over 600 Mb, with updates supposedly coming soon. At this discount price of $4.99, you get three months of play, after that there are continuous fees per month if you still wish to play. Graphics are decent, for the kindle fire, this app has the best graphics out for it at the moment. Graphics similar to the mmorpgs back in the mid 2000's like dark age of camelot, everquest 1. About 2-3 thousand players can be online at any given moment. Gameplay is enjoyable, all the basic aspects in basic mmorpgs are visable, like groups, guilds, shops, masteries, global chat, many quests, rare loot. there are four classes, warrior, mage, monk, bowman.
One thing I DONT like is the camera, you have to constantly keep using your finger to turn around. to loot a corpse when it is displayed next to your joystick can be a problem.

Other than being HIGHLY derivative from WoW, this game has so many problems and frustrations that it's hardly worth playing... especially on the kindle. The last time they rolled out an update, it updated on time, but all of my characters disappeared and i didnt get them back for nearly two weeks. This update has been just as bad -- the game is currently inaccessible and has been that way for neafly a week now. We simply dont have access to the update that all other android users have happily been playing for a week now. And the customer service response from GL has been virtually non-existent aside from the occasional non-native english-speaking employee popping into the forums to say something completely irrelevant to the situation. If i have to wait much longer, im pretty sure i will have completely stopped caring about this game. If you're considering purchasing this game, don't bother. it's occasionally fun, but the company is just completely incompetent. more trouble than its worth

Where is the version for the Kindle Fire HDX?
I also would like to have this for the HDX. They entice us with the newer tablets but don't make it where we can play our favorite games on them? This is not fair!
