Book Description

What would you do if you held infinite power in the palm of your hand?

Order of the Seers poses this question within a story that fuses action, mystery, romance, and adventure in a science fiction novel that keeps you at the edge of your seat.

Order of the Seers begins with the journey of Liam and Lilith Knight, a brother and sister who are hunted by The Guild, a ruthless world organization that seeks to capture and exploit Lilith’s unique ability as a Seer to envision the future. Soon after they are forced to leave their home, Lilith and Liam discover that she is not alone. Other Seers like Lilith are routinely kidnapped and enslaved by the Guild for the purpose of consolidating wealth and power around the world.

But from within the organization, Marcus Akida, a captured Seer with powerful visioning capabilities, quietly plots his daring escape with the help of a beautiful and tortured Seer named Alessandra. When the escaped Seers are drawn to the same remote commune in Iowa as Liam and Lilith, they each find a place where they can rebuild their lives and rediscover their passion for life and love. As the Guild’s efforts to find them intensifies, the Seers ban together with outlaws from the commune to fight back against the organization that threatens their lives – setting off a chain of events that will unleash the full power of the Seers and change everything we know about the true potential that lies dormant in each of us.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This story touched me in so many ways. I absolutely loved the intrigue and the mystery of it. I love reading with my heart pounding. But, at the same time, seeing the small connections, the love and the devotion that were built out of the darkness of what they were experiencing...just beautiful. --Reader

I loved the whole new world you created...it felt like I was in the story with the characters! --Reader

Great story. Loads of action, and just a little, perfect romance. --Reader

When a genetic marker for people who can see the future is identified, Seers become the target of a modern day witch-hunt by an organization known as the Guild. The family of the Seers they find are killed, and the Seer is taken prisoner, stripped of their memories and controlled to serve political interests.

Lilli and Liam are hit hard when their parents are murdered and they have to run for their lives. Where they stop running is where their fight against the Guild starts.

Alessandra is a powerful force to reckon with as the memories of her tragic past slowly resurface, and she was easily my favorite character. When Alessandra and Liam fall for each other, then all the foresight in the world won't help them with how unpredictable love is.

Order of the Seers is an interesting take to just what our world might be like with people who could see the future, complete with action, romance and thrills that will appeal to science fiction fans of supernatural powers. I look forward to reading the sequel to see what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing First Novel! September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Order of the Seers is an amazing read that will captivate readers from the first page. The story is well written and well thought out and the attention to detail is what makes this a 5 star book. Cerece Rennie Murphy has created a world filled with amazing characters you will want to cheer for and a villain so evil he rivals some of the vilest characters ever written in literature.

I cannot wait for the next installment to come out and I know this is a book I will read again.

Note: I don't know why other reviewers are labeling this a YA book but it is not. There is violence and sexual content that is not appropriate for younger readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read....Don't like the language in it though December 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Lets start with what I like about this book. First and foremost it grabbed me from the very beginning. The opening of this book is intense.

Liam and his younger sister Lilli find themselves orphaned and on the run. Lilli is a "seer" meaning she can see the future. The Guild doesn't want the world to know about seers so they have set out to find and eliminate them.

Liam and Lilli are having to constantly move around, and finally find a community where they can stop running for a while. This is when the book gets really great for me. It's so exciting. New people come into play and new "powers" are discovered. While hiding and trying to save those who are like her, Lilli comes to learn just how powerful a seer she might become.

It is so fascinating. I would have a love/hate relationship with being able to see the future. On some accounts it would be great, and others it would be heart breaking. I think that is why this book is so fascinating to me.

Now, to what I DID NOT like...I have to be honest, I really, really enjoyed this book, but it is a hard one for me to review. I couldn't put it down, but there are some things about it that I wish were not there. The reason is, my 17 yr old and I read a lot of the same books, and she follows my reviews.... but this is one I would NOT want her read yet. There are too many f-bombs dropped, which is a personal pet peeve of mine, but even more is there is a very descriptive sex scene in the book. I just don't mind her reading about relationships and "implied" sex, if that makes sense, I just don't need her to have the visual this scene puts in your head.

I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in anyway for this review, and these are my own PERSONAL thoughts on the book.

This totally would have been a 5 for me if there wasn't so much language in it!!!

More About the Author

Cerece Rennie Murphy fell in love with science fiction at the age of seven, watching "Empire Strikes Back" at the Uptown Theater in Washington, D.C., with her sister and mom. It's a love affair that has grown ever since. As an ardent fan of John Donne, Alice Walker, Kurt Vonnegut and Alexander Pope from an early age, Cerece began exploring her own creative writing through poetry. She earned her master's degrees in social work and international relations at Boston College and Johns Hopkins School for Advance International Studies, respectively, and built a rewarding 15-year career in program development, management and fundraising in the community and international development arenas - all while appreciating the stories of human connection told in science fiction through works like Octavia Butler's "Wild Seed," Frank Herbert's "Dune" and "The X-Files." In 2011, Cerece experienced her own supernatural event - a vision of her first science fiction story. Shortly after, she began developing and writing what would become the "Order of the Seers" trilogy.

Cerece lives just outside of her hometown of Washington, D.C., with her husband, two children and the family dog, Yoda.
