Damnit..the 80's were the BEST!!! just look at this band!!!
LOL..it's RAMBO as a METAL band and A trio of RAMBO's none the less!! these guy's remind me of one of my fave band's ever CARNIVORE!!!!! them and AT WAR are pure 80's BRILLIANCE!!!!! we will never get them again..well until I form another band that is!!

Greatest thing about this is..these guys invented WAR METAL!!!! WITHOUT KNOWING!!! you'll see they had on BULLET BELT's and CAMO pant's in the band photo's!!WAR METAL is a gerne of MUSIC that is now making a LOT of NOISE!!! REVENGE(CANADA)..GOATPENIS(BRAZIL)..etc..etc..I am sure AT WAR even INFLUENCED BLASPHEMY!! who influenced the above mentioned band's as well!!

These song's are like CARNIVORE and MOTORHEAD..with a lot of N.W.O.B.H.M. style stuff as well..they even remind me of a more angry WITCHFINDER GENERAL!! they just have that kind of attitude about them!!!

I have this band's demo from 85' entittled ''EAT LEAD''..and the songs are a little bit nastier on that!!! BUT YOU WILL NOT FIND THAT..ANYWHERE!!!!

ONE OF THE BAND'S/ALBUM's that tell if you know your METAL or not..you can even get by on just knowing who AT WAR is and your not a poser..but if you dont even know who they are..EAT LEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At War is good thrash (it was anyway, 20 years ago, unlike their disapointing come back). That sums it all up. I bought this vynil back in the days and it was good to have some beers with it and so on. But it is not an album that will make much history really. To compare them to Venom, Kreator, Sodom, Exodus who were genuinely groundbreaking is abusive and just show how some metal fans can be easily pleased and shows why the genre eventually got boring and predictable. Also, the guys are not just "un-pc", they are complete war mongering fascists, singing idiotic lyrics, and takes away all the joy from music in my opinion.

The best way I can describe the sound on this album is part Venom, part Celtic Frost, part Motorhead. At War was similar to the band Carnivore at the time, although At War was arguably much better. This isn't the most original album I've ever heard, but it was a lot of fun to listen to. The only real problem with the CD is the production, although this was typical for small recording labels at the time. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the aforementioned bands, or 80's thrash metal in general. Check out their follow up album "Retaliatory Strike" which I'm told is actually better than this one (haven't heard it completely yet.) Both of these CD's are available here at amazon so pick it up when you see it!
