This is an excellent book to understand the struggle to find common ground and understanding between the leftist worker movement of France of the last century and a dynamic idealistic woman who moved from an atheistic view point to become a committed Christian always closely identified with the struggles of the working class in France during the middle of the last century.

Though Madeleine's story is not one all will enjoy (what story is?), this text is one that fortifies and inspires. Her down to earth, day in and day out, approach to living Faith is edifying; moreover, especially her own words, spur the imagination. And pondering the photo on the cover has become one of my favorite pastimes..
