ALTHOUGH Ordovician rocks have been known from the eastern part of Jiangxi Province and the adjacent western part of Zhejiang Province, East China (Text-fig. 1), since the pioneer work of Liu and Chao (1927), the mid Ashgill brachiopod faunas from the area were left undescribed until two species were named by Wang (in Wang and Jin 1964).
