I received this canister PetVac as a 2009 x-mas gift from my mother. As I have two indoor dogs who both shed (64lb shepherd/lab mix and a 49lb blue heeler), so I have to run the vacuum almost daily. Here are the pros and cons I discovered with this vacuum after using it three times. Pros: easy to assemble out of the box, only took about 5 minutes. Great suction on low pile carpet/area rugs, upholstery, tile and wood/pergo flooring. The bagless canister is large and is easy to remove/replace from vac and easy to dump out. Attachments were easy to remove and replace with different ones. Very light weight vacuum. Cord winds up with a push of a button. Off/on button easy to locate and use. Worked pretty good on the stairs. Great for vacuuming under the beds, couch, etc. Cons are: Cord is way too short. Also, no matter if I was pulling the canister on carpet or on the wood floor, the vacuum constantly turns itself over. When it turns over it will either turn over on the off/on button or the cord button. So you find yourself constantly turning the vacuum upright and then having to turn it back on or pulling the cord back out of vacuum and plugging it back in the wall. What a hassle! Flawed design. Also, not enough suction and harder to manuever on thicker carpet, such as sculptured berber. For some reason this vacuum has a lot of static electricity. I had to wipe it down to remove pet hair that sticks to the outside of the canister and hose. This is the first vacuum I have had to do this to. Overall, I would say this vacuum was designed for a person who lives in a small studio apartment who rarely runs the vacuum. In my opinion, I think Oreck could do some tweaking to make a good product a great one.

I received this vacuum when I purchased the wood floor upright vacuum and this thing works great! I even sucked up some rocks by accident(oops). Great for quick clean ups or getting the stairs. I have wood floors through out my home and this perfect. Although I wish the cord was a bit longer, it's great suction and power makes up for that. Filter is easy to clean and re-assemble. I use our wet/dry vac to clean the little filter and it does the job. Oreck makes quality, light and powerful vacuums.

This is a perfect fit. Very powerful, wish cord was longer.

I never write reviews, BUT I always read reviews, so I figured I MUST leave one for this little HERO!!
I don't know why I have been bragging for so many years about how I love my HOOVER....I did, until I tried this! I always used my inexpensive, upright HOOVER, carried it around, found it fine....until the belt broke & was forced to get a replacement. While ordering our new belt for the HOOVER, I cruised the web to see what was out there. I always wanted one of those "backpack" vacuums I see the cleaning people using at my gym. I love to clean, Im strong, and thought that would be a great way to get around the house in a Jiffy! Well, after reading tons and tons of reviews for a week, I finally realized I didnt need to spend a million $$$ dollars to get my house clean. It was making me crazy! I bit the bullet & on a whim just went with the ORECK Little Hero - - -
Im SO Happy - YES, the parts can be made a bit better (as far as weight) but this is what keeps the whole system light enough to carry around - I lOVE it! YES, it's bagless, but I was willing to give that a try...Now I love the idea that I can actually SEE in the little, clear, bagless barrel if I accidentally suck up an earring, etc...
It's the perfect size, YES it tips over once in awhile - who cares! My upright HOOVER fell down the stairs yesterday, ooops! I carry this everywhere & have even been using my HOOVER parts with Oreck interchangably!
I LOVE this little sucker... I cannot believe its power ~ and NO it's not any louder than my big HOOVER ....the HERO is on a mission when you turn it on - - I have to actually be careful now of what is in my pathway (wear your glasses while at work!). I havent had to clean the bagless yet, but I don't even care...I am pissed that I waited so long to try a little canister vaccuum - Did I say I LOVE it?

This vacuum is terrific for wood and tile floors. The retractable cord is a big plus-no manual winding. The handles are long enough to reach a flight of stairs before i have to move the canister.

I have laminate and tile flooring. I got this for quick elimination of pet hair and it is awesome for that. Even small rugs. I love it!

Pretty much figured this vac was best going to be used for small jobs, but it's really meant for really small jobs, and if not really small jobs, just be prepared for changing the dirt collector many times, and don't pull this vacuum very far as it not go very far with the shoooooort cord, and if you do pull it before you reach the end of the cord, be prepared to drag it on its side as it doesn't stay upright for very long. So as not to mislead the public, I would have said this vacuum was designed for cars, as every attribute is set up for the close quarters of a car or truck interior. The amp's are just right for suction in small areas, but suction is always designed for the size of the hose end piece. As small as this guy is; like I was saying, its great for any area the size the of hose end, and not for big areas, unless you want to make hundreds of passes. Works great on my car and truck interiors.

I bought one of these little guys for myself after struggling with my $1000 Kirby for small cleanups. It has very strong suction and is easy to use. It does turn itself over, but you just have to watch when you pull it, especially over bumps in the floor. I like it so much I am buying one for my daughter. You can't beat this for $100.

We purchased this vacuum after having another brand name bite the dust after only a couple of months of use. This one is smaller, a lot more powerful and it is still working after several months of use. We love it!

I bought this based on the reviews of others on Amazon.com and wasn't disappointed. A great little vacuum...light, has great suction on my hardwood floors and for picking up cat litter along with pet hair. Works o.k. on my carpeted stairs. The cord retraction feature makes storage fast and easy. In my opinion, this makes up for the shorter cord length.
