Oreck Vacuum,

Just thought I would let you know the vacuum is worth $ 200.00 do not pay any more then that, it is made in the U.S.A. which is its strongest selling point. The second is that it really sucks and works great, but there is absolutely, no extras or any whistles as per say, so if you just need a good vacuum cleaner, this is it.
Remember you can purchase it easy for $200., on line, this is a Commercial Vacuum cleaner, so do not pay any more then $200., this is a super light and easy vacuum cleaner, but it is all plastic and light. Some people say it is loud, it is but it works good, maybe even great.

I bought this for my 92 year old mother who insists on doing her own vacuuming and only wants to use an Oreck. This one is light enough for her to move around, works beautifully, and is a good value.

Worst Vacuum Ever :(,

I should have known the first time I used this vacuum that it was a piece of garbage, but I held onto it because I heard so many good things about Oreck.
The first time I vacuumed, the smell of burning rubber (the belt) was so bad and it barely picked anything up. So as I was advised, I replaced the belt (after one use for a few minutes, the original belt was already melting). I live in a small apartment with hardwood floors, no pets and one wool carpet - there's no reason for the vacuum to malfunction like this. The vacuum continued to have the same problems, but when I readjusted the belt before every use, it became somewhat tolerable, except for the many times I had to clean out the different compartments because of buildup (again, not sure how there could be so many issues with such a small, tidy apartment). After some research, I learned that Oreck tells its customers to vacuum more "gently," otherwise the belts are prone to burn or come apart. I tend to slowly glide and don't manhandle my vacuums, but I decided to vacuum very slowly and gently to see if it would fix the problems I was having. The problems have not subsided, and have become even worse. I cannot vacuum my ONE, small carpet without the smell of burning rubber, a complete lack of suction after about 2 minutes, and having to readjust the belt or replace it every single time I want to use it. I'm throwing this thing away. Save yourself the annoyance and the money. I had a small upright dirt devil that cost about $35 that worked better than this thing. Also, I never thought I'd miss having tools so much - you can't get anywhere near the baseboards and all the dirt that builds up along your walls with this thing. And even if my vacuum has a manufacturer's defect, why hasn't Oreck replaced it?

I've been using Oreck Vacuums for years. I know that there are other vacuums on the market that look great and have a lot of hype, but forget them! This is the best and it lasts forever. It's light, gets under beds, easy to use, and cleans great.

I got mine at Big Lots Dept Store. I paid $99.00, and it was refurbished. This came with a full warranty.I have had it now for about 2 months. Its a very basic no frills added vac. Does a great job. Now if I could just teach my cat to run it, I would have it made in the shade.
