As part of my job, I sharpen chains using 2 Oregon 511s - one for .325 and smaller chains, and the other for 3/8 and larger. Most of the chains that come in are .325 or 3/8th chains. I've sharpened a few smaller, as well as .404s. Overall, we use the same angles for all the chains. The grinder is set 55 degrees vertically, 30 degrees horizontally, and 10 degrees forward sharpening 1 side, and 10 degrees back sharpening the other side. Its a great grinder, and once you've used it a few times, sweet to use.

THE GRINDER WORKS VERY GOOD. I AM IMPRESSED WITH HOW FAST I CAN SHARPEN A CHAIN. IT TOOK A LITTLE THINKING AND COMMON SENSE TO FIGURE IT OUT, THE INSTRUCTION ARE USELESS. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT THIS GRINDER IS IT DOESNT HAVE A BLADE LOK, SO YOU CAN HOLD THE SHAFT AND CHANGE THE BLADE. YOU HAVE TO TAKE ALL THE SAFTY SHEILDS OFF AND HOLD THE SHAFT WITH A PAIR OF PLIERS. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU NEED THE SAME BLADE ALL THE TIME, BUT I HAVE 2 HUSKY SAWS AND THEY ARE DIFFERENT SIZE. OVER ALL THIS IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE. I SPENT TWICE THIS AMOUNT IN THE PAST 5 YEARS HAVING THEM SHARPENED AT A LOCAL LAWNMOWER SHOP.

Well built unit, however overlly complicated. Instructions are terrible. If you use any chain other than the "oregon" brand you will need to either call the manufacture or chainsaw dealer for angle settings. If you know a commercial timber faller better yet.

I an very please with the chain saw sharpener. The only problem that I have with it is the instructions are quite hard to understand. If they were cleared I would have given it 5 stars.

Item is worth the money and shipping was quick. The directions are a bit funky but do suffice.

I sharpen a bunch of cutters then switch to the flat stone for sharpening the rakers.I have sharpened about 25 chains so far and am pleased with the power this machine puts out. I had a cheapo one that was way under powered and did not work well.

My only complaint is that the vise handle interfers with the view of the alignment notch on the chain angle guide, thats why I gave it a four.

I upgraded from the "mini Jolly" to this unit, only surprise was that this one is also made from same Italian company-don't know what the Italians have re: chain saw sharpeners, but this unit really has the power needed to quickly sharpen the chains for my Stihl and Husky saws, and the light built in really helps me see what I'm doing. The mini model was way under powered.

Other than poor assembly instructions,that everyone else has pointed out, it is a great tool. My only suggestion to improve it would be to make the angle settings ratcket so you could be assured that you have it exactly on the degree mark you desire.

Tool itself seems to be of good quality and operates as expected. Owners manual is for the most part useless.

This sharpnener will sharpen any chainsaw chain. Easy to use and lots of power.
I don't know why I didn't buy it sooner.

The instructions were way too complex and confusing for what was actually required to put this machine together. I've seen many simpler instruction manuals for more complicated machines. The good part is that the machine is actually pretty straight forward to understand once you start handling the pieces. Once together, things work pretty well. I learned from sharpening several saw chains for a few of the guys at work, that there isn't much adjustment needed between brands of chain. My chains now cut very well. I'm happy.
