Oregon Lawn Mower Blade For Murray 22-Inch Mulcher,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oregon 97-001 Murray 3-In-1 Mulcher Replacement Lawn Mower Blade 21-7/8-Inch (Lawn & Patio)
I needed a new blade for my 22 inch Murray lawnmower. For some convenience I decided to go online and find the cheapest blade. That was a bad I idea. I am a "smart" shopper and can usually find a decent bargain. The blade itself is a monster. While the current blade had 1 angled cutting surface on each end of the blade the Oregon had two and each of them was at a different angle. The plus is a greater surface area and possible better mulching because of that. The problem was when I received the blade it had a VERY thick coat of what I assume was a powder coating. I do have a bastard file for regular upkeep. I proceeded to try and mow. The results were horrid. I cut one path and looked behind me. The results were worse than the old blade. I turned it over and removed the rest of the powder coating. Tried again. I little better. When time is money I don't want to make 2 passes when one should be good. I then had to sharpen a new blade. This was a first for me. I usually go to home depot or order them from home depot online. I will continue to do that. I think we all know the pleasure of going from an old used up dull blade to a new blade. Well if you're looking for that steer clear of the Oregon unless you want to sharpen it before you use it.
PROS: Cheap, longer cutting surface, multiple cutting surfaces. Cons: Dull |
