Must have weather guide for people with children.,

This review is from: Oregon Scientific BAR122HGA Digital Weather Forecaster with Cable Free Thermo-Hygrometer (Kitchen)
I just bought the model BAR122HGA for a week and very happy with it. Looks very slick out of the package, the remote senor and the main unit temperature were off by 2 degree when I took it out of the box, but after 15 minutes they were in syn. The atomic clock works excellent, I change the wrong time on purpose to test the feature, after awhile it syn. the correct time by itself. The future weather forecast were mostly correct so far. It is so much easier now to determine if I should give my children heavy jacket or not just by looking at the weather station. The best part is that, it is more reliable than the weather man.

I purchased this unit from Costco and I have been very happy. I am a bit of a weather station nut and I have accumulated three different models and multiple remote wireless sensors. What I like about this unit is that it gives you a possible forecast through the barometric pressure analysis. It also provides you with the atomic clock time, which is most useful at our weekend place where the power tends to suffer at least one brownout a week. The temperature taking appears accurate and the unit is handsome enough to put up on the wall. I constantly get questions on the unit from visitors who want to know what it does and where can they get one.

My boyfriend bought this station in July just for FUN. First, I was like what.. [money] for a clock like this?? No way! But, I was wrong¡K after he explained everything¡K ¡§This clock is a weather forecaster, you can get indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity from the senor and atomic clock, good for traveling¡¨ Overall, pretty accurate with the weather forecaster, about 70% correct, that¡¦s the manual said. And like others said that the atomic clock works excellent. Cons: should show the pressure in number, like 1003mb.

Oregon Scientific makes great products. We use at least six of their devices in our home today. The digital weather forecaster with remote thermo-hygro sensor and radio controlled clock was the latest toy for my office. The wireless remote sensor works well. You can also measure the temperature, humidity and pressure trends. The display is very easy to read. I have tried for a week to get the US atomic clock system to sync and automatically set the clock and calendar function. Today, I finally just manually set the clock and calendar. I'll try again in a few weeks. Today it rained for the first time since May (you can't beat the San Francisco weather). The unit's weather forecast function predicted it would rain last night.... so it did work. I'm happy with it for now. Can't wait to see their new products at the CES in January.

I've owned this model for many years and it is still working...For me it is my favorite weather station...This unit came with the better Oregon Scientific sensor. The base is small, easy to read and fairly easy to set...I have some problems getting the atomic clock to sync...But that is usually due to low batteries in the base or sensor unit. or I didn't hold down the search button or hit reset when changing batteries.....I wish they still made this model as I like it so much better than the newer ones. It's the perfect size and has enough weight to be steady on nearly any surface

They advertised that this thing will transmit up to 100 ft. WRONG. I tried to mount the remote about 40 ft from the indoor receiver and could get nothing. Then I tried moving the indoor receiver closer to the remote (approx 25 feet) - nothing. Both of these applications had to go through a wall and were not line-of-site, which is why I purchased a wireless system. Then I moved the remote from it location to the outside wall of where I had th eindoor receiver mounted (approx 18 inches away) - nothing. I then reconfigured everything and put the indoor sensor in an area where I did not want it, but I figured I would get used to it. The mounted the remote - outdoor sensor in a spot that has direct line-of-site through a window to the indoor sensor at a range of about 23 ft - nothing. Mind you, I had changed batteries 4 times in all of the units, thinking that I had bad batteries (which it turns out I did not). What is most infuriating is that I received this item on 2/13/04 while I was moving into my new house. I installed it on the weekend of 2/21. I emailed OREGON SCIENTIFIC on 3/23 for tech advice and received no answer. I had to write again 1 week later (3/31)with the same inquiry. This time they responded "I am sorry, but as your order has passed our 30-day grace period, we cannot accept your return." I didn't even ask to return it! I just wanted the thing to work right as advertised. Anyway, I now have the indoor unit mounted on a window sill 5 feet from the outdoor remote in direct-line-of site through a window. Truly pathetic. Avoid any of this company's products as they are very dishonest.
