3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected.
This laptop is great for educational purposes but can sometimes be a bit rough to see. The glaring red back-light makes it difficult on the eyes after a good while. I would recommend setting a time of play due to this.

I would not buy this product again.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 5 year old granddaughter and am very pleased with it. Takes 3 AA batteries. Has no mouse. Lots of educational games. The girl is in Kindergarten and I had wanted something to get her introduced to computers, since she will be dealing with computers in school in a few years. Very happy with the purchase. With regard to eye strain issues that can result from her playing nonstop with this thing, we have a play limit of 2 hours for her. I should add that some of the games and activities on this computer are too advanced for her right now, but I am confident she will grow into those more advanced games and activities this next year or so. Would buy again. Only problem we had with it was that it was hard to get out of the box (there are twist latches that bind the box to the back of the computer and you have to turn and lift out those latches to fully disconnect it from the box). But once out of the box it was great!

My 6 year old daughter saw this toy at a store and wanted it immediately. So I got it for Christmas, and when she opened it, she was absolutely delighted. Unfortunately, she hasn't really used it much since. Some of that is because of her (she can't read well yet), and some of it is because of the nature of this toy.

1. The screen is an old, LED-type screen, so the graphics aren't very good, and the screen itself is pretty small. Kids now are used to high-quality graphics, so what's going on the screen of the Barbie B-Smart really doesn't grab her.

2. The navigation menus are confusing. Heck, they confuse me, but for a 6 year old girl, well, it's a bit much.

3. My daughter is used to other computer games that are easier to use, such as WebKinz and DK Kindergarten, and those programs are more sophisticated than the ones in the Barbie B-Smart.

Overall, I think I would have been better off purchasing yet another software program for use on our laptop. The Barbie B-Smart sits unused while my daughter plays any number of other games on our computer. I do think it has some merit - maybe for kids who are a little older (7-8 years old), but it has some real drawbacks. Maybe my daughter will learn to love it, but so far, it's been a bit of a letdown.

We bought this for my 5 year old for Christmas. She loves the idea of her own laptop but the screen is difficult to see and every time it's closed, the power button is activated and the power comes on. This has caused the batteries to run down several times.

We bought this for a Christmas morning toy for our daughter. She was so thrilled! We opened it, she played it, and honestly I was a bit bummed by the 'graphics' and what the actual 'computer' did (or didn't do, I should say). So the same day, it started turning itself off. We replaced the batteries thinking they were no longer good batteries, to no avail. It started turning itself off quicker than before, and then it got STUCK during a song, like a bad dream, repeating one word over and over and over til the batteries were removed. I will give it this much though, it is an adorable toy, looks like a real laptop, and if you were to judge a book (or laptop) by it's cover, then you'll be sold on the toy. But DO NOT judge a book, or laptop!, but its cover; you'll be thoroughly bummed. We returned this the next week, and Amazon gave us a full refund. Thank you, now we can go buy something my daughter can actually play with.

Unfortunately, the screen on this computer makes it not worth buying. The screen is early 1980s quality. My young daughter is used to playing games on the adult computer. Not sure why the makers couldn't put a better screen on it.

I bought this a year ago for my daughter who is 6yrs old now.
I have two girls and they never play with this.
The screen makes me blind and for this price it should have a better one.
The only good thing about this computer is that it looks very cute.
This learning computer should only be $25.00 not $50.00

This is a great learning toy. My daughter enjoys playing/learning from it. The screen, however, is colored red and it eventually hurts your eyes when you keep on using it for some time

I thank that was biggest, but my daugter likes this size. She's too much happy. I think this laptop can be made completely in spanish too, both languages, because there are some games in spanish but the barbie voice is always in english.
