Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This thermometer displays the current indoor and outdoor temperature at the same time or can be set to display the maximum or minimum indoor and outdoor temperatures. No matter what is being displayed, the unit will continue to memorize temperature highs and lows and can post them at the touch of a button. An internal sensor detects the indoor temperature while a sensor probe on a 12-foot cable provides an accurate outdoor reading; the temperature is sampled every 10 seconds in both locations. Temperatures are displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius and measure ranges from 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C) indoors and -58 to 158 degrees F (-50 to 70 degrees C) outdoors. With its jumbo display, this thermometer is easy to see from across a room. Measuring 4 by 4 inches, the thermometer has a table or wall mount and runs on one AAA battery (included). --Cristina Vaamonde

2.0 out of 5 stars Only lasted 2 years, September 29, 2004

Our unit lasted about 2 years then failed to show the outdoor temperature. (I see some other people have had the same problem with similar models.) The unit is consistently off by a few degrees, as well. Why on earth would you want to see fractions of a degree if the accuracy is +/- 2 degrees? On the other hand, the display is very easy to read. Just don't plan on it lasting too long...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Made, January 19, 2005

I have had four of these devices. At heart they are a great idea. But if you don't want to hang it on the wall and wish to use the stand, you may have some problems.

Do not put this unit on a window ledge or anywhere else where the sun will fall on it regularly. The screens start to lose some of the display and they become useless. The one I have that has stayed out of the sun is still working. The other three did not make it a year before developing trouble.

While working, these units did give accurate readings, but the durability of unit make it a poor buy unless you can keep the unit isolated.

I purshased this item and am extremely disappointed. It is consistently 4.5-6.2 degrees off from the correct indoor temperature as displayed by my Skyscan Atomic Clock. The outdoor temperature display is no more accurate. Save your money, don't bother with this inferior item.
